All Of Anna Devane's Husbands On General Hospital

On the long-running soap opera, "General Hospital," the World Security Bureau (WSB) has been integral to certain storylines and a key component of some of the characters' backgrounds. The British Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Australian Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) were operatives for the intelligence agency and met in the 1970s. Through the years, Anna's been police co-chief of Port Charles and later the police commissioner. She was also the Pine Valley Police Department's chief of police in 2002 when the character briefly crossed over to "All My Children." Anna is currently a special agent for the Justice Department but still has close ties to the Bureau.

At the WSB, Anna worked with analyst Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), who had developed an unrequited love for her. When she and Robert first worked together, he was unaware that Anna was a double agent for an enemy organization known as the DVX, where she worked with the nefarious Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). Faison became overly obsessed with Anna, who refuted his advances. Anna and Robert's connection grew fast, and they married in Italy in 1976. When he learned of her double agent status, Robert abruptly divorced Anna, severing all ties. He would later become commissioner of the Port Charles police department and ended up marrying con artist Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), who attempted to let go of her criminal ways.

Anna found her way to Port Charles in 1985 and was seemingly a woman of mystery.

Anna chose Duke Lavery over Robert Scorpio

Anna Devane and Sean Donely (John Reilly) — the former head of the WSB — worked together secretly to sell stolen Aztec treasure. However, when it went missing, Anna and Robert Scorpio teamed up to stop Sean, and the two men fought nearly to the death. When Holly Sutton learned that Robert and Anna had previously been married, she dumped him and left town. Anna's daughter, Robin, found her way to Robert's house, and he befriended the young girl. Eventually, Anna revealed that Robin was her daughter with him. After Robin was kidnapped and her parents rescued her, Robert returned to Australia, and Anna was appointed co-chief of police with Burt Ramsey (Bob Hastings).

In 1986, Anna fell in love with Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), a Scottish nightclub owner. However, Duke was embroiled in the mob and couldn't get out. Burt was eventually revealed to be the mafia boss controlling Duke, so the Scotsman switched sides and helped Robert and Anna take him down. Anna and Duke broke up, and she became a private investigator. Robert returned, becoming her PI partner. Although he tried hard to get back with Anna, her love for Duke was strong, and the two eventually got married. The couple got pregnant, but Anna lost the baby when mobster Olivia Jerome (Tonja Walker) caused an elevator she was in to collapse. Duke and Anna's marriage then came to an end when he was presumed dead in an explosion.

Anna reconciled with Robert and later married David Hayward

Anna Devane and Robert Scorpio remarried in 1991, but Cesar Faison came to Port Charles, attempting to break them up. The villain kidnapped Anna, and when Robert tried to rescue her from Faison's boat, it exploded, and all three were declared dead. Years later, Anna turned up alive in Pine Valley, having been nursed back to health, though she suffered amnesia for a time. She got involved in attempting to take down a drug kingpin known only as Proteus. She suspected David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) of being the criminal, but the two started to develop feelings for each other. She soon discovered David wasn't the drug lord but had been dabbling in unauthorized medical experiments. Anna agreed to marry him so she wouldn't be able to testify against him, but when she learned about many of his other misdeeds, they divorced. Anna was pregnant, and unfortunately, the baby had a heart condition. Little Leora underwent surgery after birth but sadly died.

Anna eventually returned to Port Charles and, since then, had relationships with several men, including Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton). Anna and Finn almost got married, but when he learned that she was supposedly the mother of villain Peter August (Wes Ramsey), coupled with the secrecy inherent in her job, he called it off. Anna is currently romantically entangled with Valentin Cassadine, and they're working with a team to take down his father, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). Whether or not their relationship stands the test of time remains to be seen.
