The Best Dressed Stars At The 2019 iHeart Radio Awards

The 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards took place on March 14, 2019 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, and all your favorite artists were there to show off their musical prowess — as well as their eye for head-turning red carpet ensembles.

Halsey opened the ceremony with a powerhouse performance alongside Yungblud and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, and the evening only got better from there. Stars like Ella Mai, John Legend, Garth Brooks, Alicia Keys, and The Backstreet Boys all wowed the crowd with their performances, and inspired those of us watching the broadcast at home to look up how to get our hands on tickets for next year's show. This was only the sixth iHeartRadio Music Awards ceremony, but the star-studded event has quickly become one of the music industry's biggest nights — and an absolute fan favorite.

From Taylor Swift to Betty Who, the night was full of bold red carpet ensembles that won't soon be forgotten. Here's a look at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards' best dressed stars.

Taylor Swift

Get ready, Swifties — the crossover queen is back, and she's looking better than ever!

After removing herself from the spotlight after her highly-publicized feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian-West in 2016, Taylor Swift made a comeback in the fall of 2017 with her sixth studio album, Reputation. With hits like "...Ready For It" and "Look What You Made Me Do," Reputation was fierce, angsty, and a definite departure from anything Swift had done before. However, the album did have some sweeter songs sprinkled throughout — presumably about her actor boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. In one of those songs, "Call It What You Want," Swift sings, "I'm doing better than I ever was." And judging by her iHeartRadio Music Awards look, the girl ain't lying!

Wearing a multicolored sequined romper and debuting a new pink streak in her famous blonde locks, Swift appeared to have officially shed the darker aesthetic she rocked for the Reputation era of her career. The butterfly detailing on the star's Sophia Webster heels added the perfect touch to her colorful look — and perhaps gave fans a clue that a metamorphosis (and a new album) could be on the horizon.

Kacey Musgraves

You'd be hard-pressed to find a star more down-to-earth than country darling Kacey Musgraves. Despite the whimsical, otherworldly vibes found in the singer's fourth studio album, the Grammy-winning Golden Hour, Musgraves seems like a girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground. Every interview we see with Musgraves just makes us want to be BFFs that much more — and each of her red carpet looks has us itching to revamp our wardrobes.

Musgraves kept things simple-yet-stunning at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards in an earthy, forest-green mini dress with a bodice bodycon, double-tiered ruffle detailing, and a plunging sweetheart neckline. The "High Horse" songstress sported a barely-there makeup look with a nude lip, and kept her signature long, dark tresses pushed behind her shoulders.

Later in the evening, Musgraves traded her green mini-dress for a full-length, single-sleeved, canary yellow gown which she wore while sitting atop a literal rainbow for a special performance of her song "Rainbow" with Coldplay's Chris Martin.

Katy Perry and Zedd

If you saw Katy Perry walking arm-in-arm with another man at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards and went into an immediate state of panic, don't worry — there's no trouble in paradise for the recently engaged Perry and Orlando Bloom! While her fiancé wasn't in attendance at the March 14 awards ceremony, Perry walked the red carpet with collaborator Zedd — with whom she recently worked on the hit song "365." The "Firework" songstress and American Idol judge paid homage to the pair's newest bop by dressing like the Stepford Wives-inspired, humanoid robot character she portrays in the song's video. Wearing a black and white, checkered mini dress with a wide, black belt, Perry styled her platinum hair into a chin-length bob and sported a bold red lip.

Russian-German DJ and producer Zedd complemented Perry's red carpet ensemble perfectly, wearing a black and silver suit which featured a vintage fleur-de-lis pattern. These two don't only make great music together — they also make quite the fashionable pair!

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning isn't known for her contributions to the music industry — but the young actress just may be on her way to musical stardom if the trailer for her new movie, Teen Spirit, is any indication. In the film, which is set for an April 5, 2019 release date, Fanning plays the role of Violet — the teenage daughter of a Polish immigrant, as well as an aspiring pop star. As shown in the trailer, Violet's world is turned upside down when she auditions for Teen Spirit, an American Idol-like talent competition. Fanning revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that she prepared for the musical role by attending vocal lessons "every single day" for four months, and watching videos of superstar performers Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. "They have that 'it' factor," Fanning told the publication. "They're polished [...] So I studied their mannerisms."

Fanning didn't look at all out of place while attending the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards. The starlet donned a floor-length, nude ballgown with intricate bead detailing, calling to mind Taylor Swift's red carpet aesthetic of yesteryear. Could Fanning be a future pop princess?

Bebe Rexha

Bebe Rexha has been making plenty of headlines in 2019, both for her music and her determination to unabashedly be herself and shut down any haters she may encounter along the way. The "I'm A Mess" songstress made waves in January 2019 when she posted a video to her Instagram and revealed that multiple designers had refused to dress her for the 2019 Grammy Awards due to Rexha not being "a runway size."

"Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less [than] by their size," Rexha captioned the video. "We are beautiful any size!"

The response to Rexha's inspiring words was strong, and Monsoori dressed the star in a dazzling, deep-red ballgown for her night at the Grammys. While she can certainly rock a princess-style gown, the "Last Hurrah" songstress proved she knows how to rock a jumpsuit with her 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards look. Complete with a belted waistline and wide-brimmed fedora, Rexha's all-black ensemble delivered total boss babe vibes.

Betty Who

Australian singer-songwriter Betty Who might have a questionable last name — but if you don't know who the "Somebody Loves You" songstress is yet, you definitely will soon. Who has been steadily climbing in popularity since her 2012, reaching international fame in just a few short years with her records Take Me When You Go and The Valley. Her dance-pop music will have you bopping around in your car during rush hour, and her softer hits like "Between You & Me" are perfect for chilling out with a glass of wine after a long work day. Basically, Who has a little something for everyone — and a style unmistakably her own, to boot!

The star wowed the crowd as she arrived to the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards wearing a black leotard underneath a sheer bodysuit with polka dot detailing. With her platinum locks styled into a sweeping pixie cut, Who proved herself to be one to watch on the red carpet.

Halsey

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, better known as the multitalented star Halsey, knows how to put on a performance. The "Now or Never" songstress has proved that she's a force to be reckoned with time and time again, like when she simultaneously painted a portrait on an oversized canvas while delivering a flawless performance of her hit song "Eastside" on Saturday Night Live in February 2019. The girl was born to entertain, which made her the perfect pick to be the opening act at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Halsey kicked off the show with a performance of her hit "Without Me," before transitioning to a performance of "11 Minutes" alongside collaborators Yungblud and Travis Barker. The star wore a skintight black mini dress for her performance — but before she took to the stage, Halsey walked the red carpet wearing a chic menswear-inspired ensemble. With her hair dyed bubblegum pink, the songstress donned a white button-up shirt with a cinched waist, a pair of black dress pants, and a bowtie worn loosely around her neck.

Alicia Keys

The 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards ceremony was a memorable night for Alicia Keys — and, in turn, the star made sure it was a memorable one for all of us watching at home. Jamie Foxx had the honor of presenting Keys with the iHeartRadio Innovator award, and in true Keys fashion, the "Girl On Fire" songstress delivered an inspiring speech to anyone who feels "different."

"All we really need to do is appreciate our individuality and embrace what makes us unique because in the end, you're remembered because you're different," Keys said as she addressed the crowd (via People). "Because you're special [...] I encourage you to continue to find the power and the beauty and the unique story in your own journey."

Keys also performed her new song "Raise a Man" alongside her eight-year-old son, Egypt, during the awards — and she did it all looking like an absolute queen. Fresh faced and natural, Keys rocked a sleek, one-shouldered jumpsuit with a multicolored headscarf and dangling leaf-motif earrings.

Ella Mai

English singer and songwriter Ella Mai is one of the newest additions to the mainstream music scene, but she's already proved her tremendous talent and powerhouse vocals with her mega popular (and incredibly catchy) hit singles "Boo'd Up" and "Trip." The sixth annual iHeartRadio Music Awards ceremony was a big deal for Mai, as she was nominated for three of the evening's awards — R&B Song of the Year, R&B Artist of the Year, and Best New R&B Artist. In a delightful turn of events, Mai ended up taking all three awards home — and deservedly so. This young R&B star has already solidified her place amongst top-ranking artists, and we can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

The star chose a business-in-the-front, party-on-the-sleeves look for the night, accessorizing with sparkling white diamond jewelry. Her hair pulled into a stylish high ponytail, Mai looked fresh-faced, glowing, and ready to take on the world. You go, girl!
