The Truth About Billie Eilish's Love Life

Billie Eilish is, without question, one of the most talked-about teenagers in the entire world. The young singer-songwriter catapulted into super-stardom at a breakneck pace, amassing Instagram followers and accolades like it was second nature. Along with her brother, Finneas O'Connell, Eilish has turned the recording industry on its head, showing that you can create hit song after hit song by just chilling in your bedroom. Our girl is 100 percent her own boss.

Since Eilish is her own creation, it follows that the lyrics she writes are about her personal life experiences, something she has affirmed in interviews. Whether it's experiencing sleep paralysis or expressing her disdain for popping pills, Eilish sings from the heart about her hopes, dreams, and fears. And, of course, she sings about romance and falling in love.

So what's the deal with Billie Eilish's love life? Does she have someone special and just who has she loved in the past?

Billie Eilish's first kiss was a disappointment

Chances are you remember your first kiss, whether it was downright magical or woefully disappointing. Well, Billie Eilish remembers hers, as she's shared the story with audiences at her shows, and the experience was, well, less than stellar.

Eilish dished about her unfortunate experience at a concert in March 2018. "Two years ago, on the day before Valentine's Day, I went to the movies with a boy," she recalled. But because the movie was so horrible, Eilish and her date decided to ditch it, instead heading up to the roof of the parking deck to look at the stars. That certainly sounds more romantic than a terrible film!

Unfortunately, the move didn't turn out to be much better, as the boy she was with ruined the moment. "Right after we kissed, he says, 'Wow, that was really not as magical at all as I thought it was going to be,'" she shared. Oof, talk about a buzzkill! And to add insult to injury, the boy left with his butler (for real), stranding Eilish at the movie theater, according to an interview she gave on The Howard Stern Show. What a mess!

Billie Eilish's ex has gotten roasted on Instagram

After Billie Eilish regaled her fans with the story of her first kiss, she name-dropped the offending party and then launched into a rendition of "My Boy" — that's some payback right there. It turns out the guy's name is Henry Whitford, and he and Eilish follow one another on Instagram. So, if ever there was any bad blood between the two, chances are it's all been sorted out by now.

Lest you think Eilish's fans would leave Whitford alone once they discovered his Instagram page, however, you'd be sorely mistaken, as they dragged him on the social media platform after the singer outed him. "Imagine kissing Billie Eilish and thinking it wasn't magical," one person commented. "I'm laughing cause I thought I'd be one of the only ones to try and find the dude ... just to see who he was but wowwww is this really the guy???" wrote another.

Whitford doesn't post very often, but he does have over 25,000 followers, likely thanks to Eilish. Silver lining, perhaps?

Billie Eilish has had her heart broken

It's pretty apparent in songs like "wish you were gay" and "My Boy" that Billie Eilish knows what it's like to have her heart broken. That's something she isn't shy about talking about either, even though she's been written off by older people because she's so young. "When older people say, 'What do you know about things like love?,' I know more about it than you do because I'm feeling it for the first time right now, whereas you haven't felt that for a long time," she revealed in an interview with NME. "That doesn't mean it is any less powerful, but it is definitely a different feeling."

Eilish has a point, too, as she's pretty spot-on in her assessment of human emotions, identifying core differences between young people and adults. "They're used to love, heartbreak, pain and just wanting to f**king die," she continued. "But for a younger person that's all new to you and it's terrifying."

There's one person Billie Eilish is definitely in love with

To be quite frank about it, Billie Eilish is at a place in her life where she could pretty much date anyone she wanted to. Of course, that wasn't always the case, as she's dealt with her fair share of rejection and can tell you all about how unrequited love feels. But these days, the singer-songwriter is exceedingly in demand.

But is Eilish in love with anyone special? After being asked the question by a reporter in an August 2019 interview with 3voor12, Eilish shared, "I was in love...[but] not at the moment." She continued, "I'm in love with myself. ... I'm in love with her," she said, gesturing to herself. Given that the rest of the world is as well, that's no surprise!

As for who Eilish will date in the future, that's anyone's guess. She's still very young, so we'll just have to wait and see who steals her heart.

Billie Eilish was "in love" with Justin Bieber

It's perfectly normal for tweens and teens to idolize a pop star or other celebrity that they have a connection to. But for Billie Eilish, who was obsessed with Justin Bieber for several years, it can also be all consuming. "I can't even explain it to sound normal — I was in love with him," she confessed in an interview with The Guardian. "Everything about me was about him, and everything I did was for him. It was so miserable." Girl, you are definitely not alone in that plight.

Eilish has since become friends with Bieber, and the pair even collaborated on a version of Eilish's hit song "Bad Guy." But still, Eilish remembers what it felt like to be super in love with Bieber before her rise to fame. "It's not a good feeling to be in love with someone who doesn't know you exist," she continued. "I would sob all the time because I loved him too much."

Billie Eilish doesn't want her fans to be in love with her

Just as Billie Eilish was desperately in love with Justin Bieber, so too are her fans deeply emotionally connected to her. "People at my meet-and-greets have said: 'Billie, I feel the way you feel about Justin Bieber about you,' and that blows my mind," she revealed in an interview with The Guardian. Once again, it's not surprising, but it does sound like it can be quite the overwhelming experience to be on the receiving end of that kind of affection.

To that end, Eilish doesn't want her fans to be in love with her as she knows firsthand how devastating that can be. "I just feel bad because if that's actually true? I'm sorry, bro," she continued. "I do not mean to be putting anybody in the position I was in. That s**t hurts."

While the love for Eilish isn't likely to let up anytime soon — if anything it just seems to keep growing — chances are she'll be super gracious to anyone she meets who's pledged their heart to her.

Has Billie Eilish been too busy to date?

Before Billie Eilish embarked on her 2019 tour, she was struggling and was not really in a good place. "I just couldn't take the fact that I had to leave again," she explained in an interview with Rolling Stone. "It felt like an endless limbo. Like there was no end in sight. And, I mean, it's true: There really is no end in sight with touring."

She's definitely not wrong, as going on tour is a necessary evil for many, many musicians. And according to an article in The Guardian, touring can put a strain on a relationship, as it's difficult to get quality time with a partner when you're constantly in a different state or country.

To that end, it might be difficult for Eilish to prioritize romantic love right now, as she's always super busy due to the demands of her career. She might be able to take whoever the lucky person is along on tour with her, but that would prove to be difficult if he's rooted in one location.

It's likely that Billie Eilish would only date a vegan

One thing that Billie Eilish has been outspoken about is her commitment to a vegan diet. To that end, she once posted a video on social media that depicted some pretty heinous treatment of livestock at the hands of some cruel farm workers. "I keep my mouth shut most of the time about this because I believe everyone should do, eat, and say whatever they want... and I don't feel the need to shove what I believe in in anyone's face," she wrote in an Instagram story (via Live Kindly). "But man... if you can watch the videos that I just posted and not give a f*** that it's YOU contributing by LITERALLY EATING the creatures that are being fully tortured just for your pleasure. I feel sorry for you."

Given just how morally important being a vegan is for Eilish, it seems pretty likely that she would want her romantic partner to have the same views when it comes to diet. Certainly she wouldn't be thrilled if a potential partner dragged her out to a steakhouse on date night!

Billie Eilish probably wants a sober partner

Experimenting with drugs and alcohol is something many teens and young adults have done. But Billie Eilish couldn't be any less interested in any of it, as she simply finds the idea boring. "I have never done drugs, I've never got high, I've never smoked anything in my life," she proclaimed in an interview with The Guardian. "I don't give a f**k, I never have. It's just not interesting to me. I have other s**t to do."

That's apparent if you listen to the lyrics of her song "Xanny," a track that was inspired by Eilish's experience watching her friends at a party. "They were Juuling, throwing up, drinking. Kept throwing up, kept drinking more," she recalled in an interview with Paper magazine. "What was really weird to me was that nobody cared."

So when it comes to Eilish's love life, chances are she'd prefer to be with someone who's not interested in getting drunk or high all the time. It's just not something she would relate to.
