How Chris Pratt Won Father-In-Law Arnold Schwarzenegger's Approval

In case you missed it, earlier this year Chris Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger, the daughter of the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger. The two tied the knot at the intimate San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, on June 8, 2019, with the brunette bride wearing a stunning custom Armani Privé white crinoline lace bustier column gown (via People).

On their personal Instagram accounts, the pair posted similar sentiments about their wedding day being the best day of their life, shared with only their closest family and friends. But what everyone really wants to know is how Chris Pratt won Arnold Schwarzenegger's approval.

"Pumping iron was the decision-making factor. We were in the gym, that was it," the former Governor of California and bodybuilder told Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (via Today). Speaking of the time he and Pratt first met, Schwarzenegger revealed, "Of course the first thing when we met he says, 'Can we have a workout together? I need to have the inside scoop to the pumping iron.'"

Did Chris Pratt ask Arnold Schwarzenegger for permission to marry his daughter?

Particularly impressed by Pratt's incline press, the Terminator star expressed his approval of his new son-in-law. "When I watched him make his moves in the gym, the incline press specifically did it,” he joked. "It's why I wanted him to become my son-in-law was the incline press."

When questioned whether Chris Pratt asked for his permission to marry Katherine, Schwarzenegger admits the Jurassic World actor asked in the most traditional way. He also hinted that he never had any doubts. "I'm really happy that he is such a great guy," Schwarzenegger said of Pratt. "Not only a very talented guy and a great actor and a great star and all this stuff, but a really kind man and kind to my daughter, which is the most important thing for me."
