The One Movie Role Jennifer Lopez Still Regrets Turning Down

It's hard to imagine Jennifer Lopez regretting anything. She's one of the most respected and admired performers in the world, with a decades-long acting and music career. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she has a fortune of $400 million. The 50-year-old also maintains an amazing physique.

What could make someone who has achieved so much in her life regretful? Turning down an acting role. There's one role that, to this day, Lopez cannot believe she passed on. The actress recently told Vanity Fair (via Fox News) that she is still haunted by the fact that she turned down a role in the 2002 film Unfaithful.

"I should have known that [director] Adrian Lyne was going to kill it, but I didn't," she said.

Jennifer Lopez admits the role went to the right person

Even though Lopez now wishes she had taken on the role of Connie Summer in the film, she admits that the right person ended up in the role. Diane Lane ended up earning an Oscar nomination for the role that Lopez turned down.

"Diane Lane was so perfect for it, and it was obviously meant to be her," said Lopez. "But when I think about that, I was offered it, and I had the opportunity... I want to literally, like, shoot my toe off. I do."

It seems Lopez has learned her lesson about not turning down great roles, because she's landed plenty over the years. Her most recent film, Hustlers, earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

What's next for Jennifer Lopez?

Lopez said that she hopes directing will be in her future, but there's an even bigger thing on her bucket list that she has yet to check off. "I would say I would love to live somewhere other than the United States, in a small town in Italy, or on the other side of the world, in Bali," she said.

She added that she'd like to "find another life where it's a little bit more simple and organic and where I get to ride a bike, and buy bread, and put it in my basket, and then go home and put jelly on it, and just eat and paint, or sit in a rocking chair where there was a beautiful view of an olive tree or an oak tree and I could just smell. I have fantasies like that."
