The Best Dressed Stars At The 2020 SAG Awards

The 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards, better known as the 2020 SAG Awards, were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Calif. on  Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020. Marking its 26th annual awards ceremony, the 2020 SAG Awards featured all of your favorite movie and television stars in one place. And, while the night was technically meant to honor the hard work and outstanding performances given by some of the world's most beloved actors, we'd be lying if we said we weren't most excited to see what our favorite celebs wore to awards show.

Instead of a red carpet, the 2020 SAG Awards featured a silver carpet — which was quite fitting, considering the number of black and silver dresses donned at the January 2020 ceremony. As with any awards show, the stars in attendance wasted no time in turning the SAG Awards silver carpet into their own personal runway, showing off a number of show-stopping, head-turning ensembles.

From Jennifer Aniston to Lupita Nyong'o, here's a look at the best dressed stars at the 2020 SAG Awards.

Charlize Theron sparkled in black and silver at the 2020 SAG Awards

Charlize Theron was not only one of the best dressed celebrities at the 2020 SAG Awards, but the actress also wore what is sure to be your new favorite hair accessory.

Nominated her role in Bombshell, Theron arrived to the silver carpet wearing an ensemble that could best be described as business on the bottom and party on the top. Designed by Givenchy, Theron's belted black maxi skirt featured a thigh-high leg slit, which the actress paired with a shimmering silver halter top that was hand-embroidered.

While Theron looked like a million bucks in her 2020 SAG Awards ensemble, it was her hair that truly stole the show. The actress parted her short platinum blonde pixie in the middle, adding what appeared to be a line of sparkling crystals over her dark brown roots. Speaking with People, Theron revealed that those crystals were actually a Tiffany & Co. Victoria line diamond bracelet, weighing in at over three carats. "I didn't have time to do my roots. So my lovely friend [hairstylist Adir Abergel] said, 'Why don't we throw a Tiffany necklace or bracelet in there,'" Theron told People.

Nicole Kidman looked elegant in blue at the 2020 SAG Awards

Nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for her portrayal of former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson in the flick Bombshell, Nicole Kidman radiated elegance as she walked the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet wearing a glittering deep blue gown.

Designed by Michael Kors, Kidman's gown featured long sleeves with structured shoulders, along with a belted waist, ruffled hem, and peekaboo leg slit, as noted by People. The actress styled her signature blonde locks in loose waves, pushing her hair over one shoulder to show off a beautiful pair of intricately beaded dangle earrings designed by Lydia Courteille that featured indigo gems that perfectly complemented her dress (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight on the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet, Kidman teased the possibility of a Big Little Lies movie, joking, "Definitely, just not now. Laura [Dern] has no time!" Laughing, Dern responded, "This is my publicist, Nicole Kidman, and my best friend!"

Zoe Kravitz stunned in Oscar de la Renta at the 2020 SAG Awards

The 2020 SAG Awards might have taken place around dinnertime, but that didn't stop Zoë Kravtiz from channeling total Breakfast at Tiffany's vibes with her awards show look.

Kravitz looked as if she'd just stepped out of the 1960s as she glided down the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet wearing a peach Oscar de la Renta gown, which featured a strapless, structured neckline and a cinched, bow waist, as noted by Harper's Bazaar. Kravitz accessorized with elegant white gloves and simple diamond stud earrings, sporting a super short pixie cut and barely-there makeup.

Of course, as fans of Big Little Lies know, Kravitz is no stranger to channeling Audrey Hepburn. In the first season of the hit HBO show, Kravitz's character, Bonnie Carlson, attends an Elvis-and-Audrey-themed trivia night dressed as Eliza Doolittle — the character made famous by Hepburn in the classic film My Fair Lady (via Vogue).

Cynthia Erivo made a statement in hot pink at the 2020 SAG Awards

With her standout look at the 2020 SAG Awards, actress Cynthia Erivo proved she knows how to make a bold fashion statement.

Erivo, whose portrayal of Harriet Tubman in Harriet earned her a nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role, turned heads when she arrived to the silver carpet wearing a stunning Schiaparelli Couture dress. The custom gown was a brilliant pop of color amongst the overwhelmingly muted tones seen at 2020 SAG Awards, featuring a strapless red top and a voluminous, asymmetrical, hot pink skirt. Featuring a show-stopping train, Erivo's gown completely stole the spotlight. The actress accessorized with diamond drop earrings, as well as a diamond necklace she told Entertainment Tonight cost "about a million" dollars.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Erivo gave her glam squad credit for her awards show look. "We all work together to create something because we know it's not just fun for me, it's fun for everyone else," the actress explained. She continued, "I really love it because it's another form of expression so I really do like to dive into it, because why not?"

Jennifer Garner kept it chic and classy at the 2020 SAG Awards

Jennifer Garner is a woman of many talents. The actress, who has gradually built a reputation as one of the most entertaining celebrities to follow on Instagram, showed off her pumpkin bread baking skills in a video she posted to the social media platform a day before the 2020 SAG Awards. In the baking tutorial, Garner wore a matching black-and-white checkered pajama set, glasses, and seemingly no makeup whatsoever — which makes sense, considering she began the baking process before sunrise.

However, Garner proved she definitely knows how to dress for an event with her 2020 SAG Awards look. The actress stunned as she walked the silver carpet in a crimson red Dolce & Gabbana ball gown, featuring a straight-across neckline, spaghetti straps, and a floor-sweeping skirt. While Garner wore a bit more makeup at the awards show than she did in her baking video, she kept it to a minimum, styling her brunette locks in casual, beachy waves (via E! News).

Opting to sport a bare neck, Garner accessorized with diamond drop earrings and a single diamond bracelet.

Lupita Nyong'o dazzled at the 2020 SAG Awards

Lupita Nyong'o's unsettling performance in Jordan Peele's sophomore psychological thriller, Us, may have been snubbed by both the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, but the Screen Actors Guild honored the versatile actress with a nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role.

While Nyong'o ultimately lost the award to Renée Zellweger, we think she deserves all of the awards for the simple-yet-elegant look she rocked on the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet. The 12 Years a Slave actress arrived to the awards show wearing a shimmering Louis Vuitton gown that featured a white strapless, sweetheart neckline that perfectly complemented the column gown's black-and-silver floral pattern.

Nyong'o's stylist, Micaela Erlanger, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the star's gown was embellished with approximately 32,000 sequins and crystals. Adding to the sparkle, Nyong'o wore a pair of diamond dangle earrings, along with a diamond bracelet and matching diamond rings — which, according to Erlanger, totaled a whopping $3.5 million.

Jennifer Lopez looked like royalty at the 2020 SAG Awards

Fresh off her surprising Academy Awards nomination snub for her performance in Hustlers, Jennifer Lopez attended the 2020 SAG Awards looking like nothing short of royalty.

Lopez glided across the silver carpet wearing a stunning black satin evening gown designed by Georges Hobeika, featuring elegant off-the-shoulder sleeves, a classic mermaid silhouette, and an oversized bow tied on the back of the dress. The multi-hyphenate star accessorized with Harry Winston diamonds, which cost around $9 million and featured a show stopping 73.55 carat necklace, as reported by People

Though she was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role, Lopez ultimately lost the award to Laura Dern. Still, as evidenced by the emotional video she posted to Instagram upon receiving news of her first SAG Awards nomination, Lopez was likely delighted just to be there. "I am so excited and so humbled to be recognized by my fellow actors out there," Lopez exclaimed in the December 2019 video. She continued, "Acting was my first love along with dancing, and I just can't believe all this is happening."

Reese Witherspoon shined at the 2020 SAG Awards

Black and silver gowns were two of the most popular choices on the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet, along with fun, shimmering detailing. However, while Reese Witherspoon might have been far from the only person to sport a glittering black and silver ensemble, the Morning Show actress somehow managed to stand apart from the rest of the crowd.

Ahead of her appearance at the 2020 SAG Awards, Witherspoon took to Instagram to give fans a sneak peek at her gown – a totally chic black and silver column dress designed by Celine. "Waiting for my Uber like..., " Witherspoon jokingly captioned the photo.

We're fairly certain Witherspoon did not, in fact, take an Uber to the 2020 SAG Awards, but the actress is always full of surprises. At the 2020 Golden Globes, Witherspoon made headlines for asking Beyoncé and Jay-Z for some of their champagne when her table ran out of water, as reported by E! News. Talk about being bold!

Jennifer Aniston looked angelic at the 2020 SAG Awards

Jennifer Aniston has officially made her return to the small screen, and we could honestly not be more excited — especially considering the various awards shows we're sure to see the Morning Show actress frequent for years to come.

Aniston dropped plenty of jaws when she arrived to the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet wearing a simple-yet-stunning ivory gown (via People). With its modest neckline and mermaid silhouette, the silky ivory gown radiated total bridal vibes — and there's no question that we'd definitely say yes to this dress.

The actress kept her makeup to a minimum, and she kept her dark blonde hair in its signature style. While Aniston undoubtedly looked stunning, her awards show gown was later overshadowed by her much anticipated reunion with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The former couple looked delighted to see each other backstage at the 2020 SAG Awards, as reported by Entertainment Tonight, sparking hope amongst diehard Brad-and-Jen fans that a romantic reunion is in the works.

Laura Dern looked powerful at the 2020 SAG Awards

Laura Dern is having a total moment in Hollywood, thanks to her standout performances in two of the most popular films of 2019 — Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story and Greta Gerwig's Little Women adaptation. While she's been in Hollywood all of her life, Dern's outstanding performances in these two wildly different 2019 flicks served as reminders of the actress' incredible versatility, talent, and power. So, Dern's elegant and powerful look at the 2020 SAG Awards was quite fitting.

The Jurassic Park actress arrived to the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet wearing an emerald green dress that perfectly complemented her blonde locks and fair skin. Designed by Stella McCartney, Dern's awards show gown featured long sleeves with structured, pointed shoulders and a plunging neckline, along with a gold braided waist.

Sophie Turner was pretty in pink at the 2020 SAG Awards

While she may no longer be the Queen in the North, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner proved with her 2020 SAG Awards look that she still reigns as red (or, rather, silver) carpet royalty.

Turner attended the awards show with husband Joe Jonas, marking the newly married couple's first public date night of 2020. The actress served up some serious Barbie doll vibes in a hot pink Louis Vuitton column gown, featuring a daring leg slit, a strapless-but-structured neckline, and a belted waist, as noted by Elle. Turner kept her wavy blonde tresses pushed over one of her shoulders, and she sported a barely-there, natural makeup look that featured a smokey eye and a glossy nude lip.

Two days before making an appearance at the 2020 SAG Awards, her pop star husband and his band released the music video for the Jonas Brothers song "What a Man Gotta Do," in which Turner appeared. In the fun music video, Turner flawlessly channels Grease's Sandy Olsson alongside Joe Jonas' Danny Zuko.

Elisabeth Moss brought Valentine's Day vibes to the 2020 SAG Awards

Elisabeth Moss — whose portrayal of June (a.k.a. Offred) in the chilling Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale has been widely praised — left the crimson red handmaid's outfit behind for her appearance at the 2020 SAG Awards. Instead, the Mad Men actress opted for sugary sweet, red and pink ensemble that had us feeling as if Valentine's Day had come early.

Designed by Monique Lhuillier, Moss' romantic, pink dress featured a ruffled boat neck, a red belted waist, and a flowing skirt, along with sheer peasant sleeves, as noted by Page Six. The actress styled her hair in a casual top knot, allowing a few loose pieces of her dark blonde hair to frame her face. Moss accessorized with a red clutch and diamond drop earrings, sporting a cherry red lip to match her ensemble's red detailing.

Ahead of the awards ceremony, Moss took to Instagram to give fans a sneak peek at her look, posting a fun photo of herself casually tossing her flowy, sheer gown into the wind.

Millie Bobby Brown wore a power suit to the 2020 SAG Awards

Millie Bobby Brown became famous seemingly overnight in 2016, when she graced our television screens as the mysterious Eleven in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. Since then, Brown has really come into her own as an actress — and as a total red carpet favorite.

Brown arrived to the 2020 SAG Awards silver carpet wearing an ivory dress-and-pants combo that immediately became the power suit of our dreams. The Louis Vuitton ensemble included a dramatic cape dress, long sleeves with structured shoulders, a plunging V-neckline, and a belted waist. Underneath the stunning cape dress, Brown opted to wear matching ankle-length pants, along with white pointed-toe heels (via Entertainment Tonight).

As noted by Entertainment Tonight, the Stranger Things star accessorized her striking look with a diamond necklace and ring, both courtesy of Cartier. With her long brunette locks pushed behind her shoulders, Brown's diamond studs added even more sparkle to her winter wonderland-inspired look.
