How The Married To Medicine Doctors Are Dealing With COVID-19

By now, you've likely been affected in some way by COVID-19, the novel coronavirus that is sweeping across the world. Many businesses have temporarily shut down across the globe, and people have been urged to practice social distancing. While many are working from home in order to prevent the spread of the illness, many people — including those who work in healthcare — are unable to work remotely. The Married to Medicine doctors, for example, have been working on the front lines during this pandemic.

Dr. Heavenly Kimes recently took to Instagram to share a video of her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, an emergency medicine physician, giving some advice on how to cope in the COVID-19 pandemic. "I really feel like this is an opportunity to slow down for a second and think about what's really important: our families, our loved ones," said the healthcare professional. "For those of us that are physicians, we're obviously thinking about our patients... I don't think we have to worry. I think we need to be vigilant."

Damon also encouraged people to pray, and to remain optimistic that a treatment for COVID-19 will eventually be discovered. "I think, in the meantime, we need to do things like, just simple things: Wash your hands. Stay away from crowds. This is probably not a time for travel," he said.

Other Married to Medicine doctors revealed how they're dealing with COVID-19

ER doctor Aydin Huq's wife, Mariah Huq, also took to Instagram with a COVID-19 update and revealed that she's having her hubby put his dirty scrubs in a hamper in the back of his car before entering their home, all to help contain the coronavirus. "When you're #MarriedtoMedicine in REAL life during an outbreak and your spouse works Frontline in the Emergency Room you have to create Quarantine zones to protect your kids!" she wrote. "#NoScrubs in the house! Sending prayers to all Healthcare workers during this mess! Stay Well."

Husband and wife Dr. Contessa Metcalfe and Dr. Scott Metcalfe posted a (now-deleted) video of them arguing on Instagram. Contessa revealed that her husband had cancelled their family's upcoming vacation due to coronavirus against her wishes. While she said that unless you are sick, you should "live your life," Scott clearly believes that there are some serious merits to social distancing in this difficult time.
