The Stunning Transformation Of Miranda Kerr

Model Miranda Kerr proudly carried the coveted title of Victoria's Secret's Angel for some time, and it propelled her to become one of the most famous supermodels in the world. Today, when you think of the Victoria's Secret models, it's hard not to think about Kerr's legacy with the brand. Of course, such honors don't come easily. Kerr's lengthy modeling career started when she was just a teen, and she faced her fair share of trials and tribulations along the way. Having had every part of her personal life splayed across the media (including a divorce), she's been incredibly transparent about her struggles with the spotlight, and the harder moments fame has brought her.

What is most remarkable, perhaps, is Kerr's ambition. Over time, her dreams shifted, and she poured more of her energy into being a businesswoman, spending less time in front of the lens. Clearly, Kerr has never been afraid of a challenge.

All this considered, if you take a look at the stunning transformation of Miranda Kerr, one of the most beautiful supermodels in the world, you'll realize how truly unique her story is.

The famous Miranda Kerr was once a small town girl

Miranda Kerr may be a big city slicker these days, but she was actually a small town girl. She hails from the town of Gunnedah, New South Wales, which boasts a population of just over 12,000 people. Kerr did eventually move to a bigger city, though, packing up and moving to Brisbane with her family. At first, the move to Brisbane proved hard for Kerr, but, looking back, she knows her career trajectory depended on it. "We moved to Brisbane for the last two years of school. I didn't want to go, I wanted to stay in Gunnedah, get married, have babies... and now look at me! Wow, who would've known?" she told Homes To Love.

However, even as an A-list celebrity, she still makes time to return to her hometown every once in a while. "When I go back now, of course, things are different to what they were growing up, but I have those memories that I'll be able to keep forever. I'm so grateful to have had that experience, it has been very grounding," she told the publication.

Miranda Kerr's big break

It was thanks to her natural talent and a little stroke of luck that Miranda Kerr was discovered. The budding model became an instant star when someone from Dolly magazine spotted her during their annual modeling competition in April 1997. Kerr was just 13 years old at the time, and she wound up winning the competition, landing herself a spread in the glossy mag. According to BuzzFeed, the magazine included Kerr's submission photos within the spread and said they knew "she's definitely got it."

After winning the contest, Kerr was flown out from her hometown to Sydney, Australia for the photoshoot that would launch her career. At the time, she told the publication she was "totally excited" for her first big job. She also told Dolly that her friends were the most important thing in the world to her and that she idolized her mom. The magazine described Kerr as being a "total sweetheart, the kind of girl you'd hang out with."

Miranda Kerr experienced a devastating loss during adolescence

It was during her teenage years that Miranda Kerr likely faced her first major case of loss and trauma: Her first boyfriend, Christopher Middlebrook, tragically passed away. Middlebrook had been involved in a car accident, the model explained to The Daily Telegraph.

In her book Treasure Yourself, Kerr reflected on the harrowing experience. "Chris' death taught me that the people who touch your life are always with you. It taught me that I have the choice to be grateful for the time I had with him instead of dwelling on losing him," she wrote, as reported by The Daily Telegraph. She also admitted that the experience made it painful to return to her hometown, telling Homes To Love that she didn't want to return because of the pain she felt.

However, in a heartwarming full-circle moment, Kerr would go on to name her future son after Middlebrook. She explained to The Daily Telegraph that her husband at the time warmed up to the idea instantly. "Chris and I had been dating for two years. After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way," she shared.

Miranda Kerr started scooping up major ad campaigns

You'd be hard pressed to find a model who's landed more major ad campaigns than Miranda Kerr has. Through the years, she's worked with a number of high-end, luxury fashion brands.

After Kerr moved to New York, she signed with Next Model Management in 2004, as Business of Fashion noted. It wasn't long until Kerr was landing campaigns she had only dreamed of. She began her New York career by walking for commercial brands like Baby Phat, Lisa Ho, Levi's, and Rock & Republic. One of her first big-time brand partnerships was with Maybelline New York.

Soon enough Kerr was the face of one of the biggest fashion brands on the globe – Prada. Kerr landed a modeling contract with Prada in 2010, as reported by InStyle, and from there, things didn't slow down. In 2014, she became the face of H&M, according to the Los Angeles Times, and that same year also saw her modeling for 7 For All Mankind (via E! News). In 2016, she took on one of her most glamorous campaigns – a partnership with Swarovski, as noted by Women's Wear Daily. But, of course, there was one brand that truly made her famous — Victoria's Secret.

Miranda Kerr joined the Victoria's Secret family

Miranda Kerr was the first Australian model to ink a deal with Victoria's Secret. The star began her time with the lingerie brand in 2006, and she quickly became one of the most recognizable faces in their campaigns. She wound up walking in almost every show from 2006 to 2012 (via Glamour), and became a Victoria's Secret Angel in 2007. Soon enough she cemented herself as one of the richest Victoria's Secret models.

Kerr was proud of her time with the brand and believed in the Victoria's Secret message through and through. As reported by New York Magazine, Kerr admitted in her 2010 self-help book Treasure Yourself that she didn't see how the Victoria's Secret catalogue could possibly cause anyone self-esteem issues. "I can't feel bad about being who I am, just like the girl next to me can't feel bad about being who she is," she said, further noting, "Because a rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose."

Miranda Kerr tied the knot with this actor

As Miranda Kerr's modeling career took off, so too did her love life.

Kerr and actor Orlando Bloom reportedly first met in late 2007, according to E! News, but apparently it wasn't instant fireworks on her end. "I was reluctant — not about him, but the idea of [him being a movie star]," Kerr told the Australian TV show Sunday Night (via Digital Spy). "I think it was his persistence [that won me over]. Maybe he wanted me because he thought he couldn't have me." Despite her initial hesitation, the pair did eventually walk down the aisle, and they wed in a hush-hush ceremony in July 2010, as reported by People

For a while, married life between Kerr and her hubby seemed picture perfect. She gave a glimpse into their life together to Hollybaby.com (via Hollywood Life), revealing she and the Lord of the Rings star were dedicated buddhists together. "I think it's really important to be first and foremost spiritually fit because it really radiates beauty for the rest of your life!" she said at the time.

Miranda Kerr's journey to motherhood

There were rumors that Miranda Kerr got hitched to Orlando Bloom so hastily because she was expecting (via Us Weekly), and those rumors turned out to be true. Just a month after she wed Bloom, the supermodel revealed she was indeed pregnant.

According to Cosmopolitan, it was in an interview with Spanish Vogue that the Victoria's Secret model confirmed her pregnancy and opened up about motherhood. "I've always been open about wanting to be a mother one day," she shared, "and I've always thought Orlando would be a great dad." She also had always been open about her desire to start a family. She told Page Six in 2008, as cited by People, "My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch." She noted that when her career is over, she'd like to be there with her children.

On Jan. 6, 2011, Kerr and Bloom welcomed their son, Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom, into the world.

Miranda Kerr said goodbye to her time as a Victoria's Secret Angel

In 2013, reports surfaced that claimed Miranda Kerr had been dropped by Victoria's Secret. According to one report from Us Weekly, she was being let go due to her "difficult reputation" and would be barred from walking in the 2013 annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. In April, she told the Sydney Morning Herald (via Hello!) that she did not renew her contract. However, Kerr eventually spoke out on the rumors she'd been forced out by Victoria's Secret, denying them entirely and proving she'd still like to work with the company.

"They asked me to walk in the show, and I really wanted to, but I have to be in Asia that week," Kerr told Fashionista. Kerr chalked the whole situation up to her busy schedule, and revealed the decision was all her own. She explained, "When I spoke to Ed [Razek, president and chief marketing officer for Victoria's Secret], he was like, 'I'm really upset that you can't be here!' but I've got another contract and commitment at the same time."

Miranda Kerr's divorce and battle with depression

It was in October 2013 that the staggering news broke of Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom's split. A rep for Bloom confirmed the breakup to E! News, explaining the stars had "been amicably separated for the past few months." The rep continued, "After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation." However, it was also noted that Kerr and Bloom would still "love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family."

For her part, Kerr was entirely candid about the experience when speaking on it in the media. She told Elle that she felt depressed after the breakup. "I never understood the depth of that feeling or the reality of that because I was naturally a very happy person," she shared. What got Kerr through that time was learning how a person's thoughts can influence their reality.

Love blossomed again for Miranda Kerr

It took two years after her divorce from Orlando Bloom, but Miranda Kerr did find love again — with none other than Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel.

The first report of their romance broke in June 2015, when they were spotted dining at a Los Angeles restaurant together. "They sat at the bar and were making out," an eyewitness told Us Weekly at the time. "They were really into each other."

It was, apparently, love at first sight for Kerr and Spiegel. After it was confirmed they were dating, she reflected on the first time they met. During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she revealed they met at a dinner party. "Oh, he's cute," Kerr apparently said to a friend at the event, and, before long, Kerr and Spiegel exchanged numbers.

The pair shared a whirlwind romance. In July 2016, Spiegel got down on one knee, and Kerr accepted his proposal. "I said yes!!!" she wrote on Instagram when showing off a snapshot of her glittering diamond. Kerr and Spiegel said their "I Do's" on May 27, 2017. The wedding took place at the couple's home in Brentwood, Calif., and, according to E! News, it was a small ceremony with not even 50 guests in attendance. Considering Spiegel's reported $2.5 billion net worth, their union made Kerr one of the many female celebs who most people don't realize have super rich significant others.

Miranda Kerr grew her family

While Miranda Kerr already shared son Flynn with Orlando Bloom, she and Evan Spiegel decided they wanted children of their own too. In November 2017, People shared the happy news that Kerr was expecting her first child with Spiegel. "Miranda, Evan, and Flynn are looking forward to welcoming the newest member of their family," her rep told the publication.

The couple welcomed a baby boy, whom they named Hart, on May 8, 2018, Us Weekly confirmed, but they weren't done growing their family. Less than a year later, the pair announced Kerr was pregnant once again, and soon they became a family of five with baby boy Myles

No one was more excited for their growing family than Kerr's firstborn. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kerr, one of the world's wealthiest wives, revealed that little Flynn practically begged for sisters and brothers. "He's so excited that Evan and I had been together for a while and he was like, 'When are we going to have another baby brother or sister?'" Kerr recalled. It looks like Flynn's wishes came true!

Miranda Kerr claimed her stake in the skincare industry

As Miranda Kerr spent less time in front of the camera while growing her family, she began to work on other projects, ones that were more personal to her. The supermodel announced the launch of her very own company, KORA Organics, in Australia in 2009, as noted by The Zoe Report. It became available stateside several years later in 2017. It was Kerr's mission that set her skincare line apart from other brands.

"I started the development of KORA Organics — a company I founded on the values of making a transformative difference to people's skin, their confidence, and offering them a healthier alternative to other brands on the market," Kerr said of her brand on KORA Organics' website. She noted that KORA uses "certified organic and natural products."

And the passion behind her foray into beauty was entirely clear. "I guess for me feeling pretty is about feeling happy, healthy, and confident. People look their best when they feel their best — it radiates from within — which is why Kora Organics is about holistically nurturing your mind, body, and skin," the star Byrdie.

Miranda Kerr has maintained a positive outlook on life

Miranda Kerr's gracious attitude is an inherent part of who she is. She is spiritual, well-connected to her emotions, and, above all, focused on happiness. She has even made a point to incorporate prayer into her daily routine. "Doing just three minutes of prayer and a minimum of five minutes meditation twice a day sets the tone — like an arrow so that you're hitting your target," she told Into The Gloss. She noted, "When I pray I always thank Mother Nature for all the beauty in the world," adding, "And then I pray to Christ to say, 'Thank you for this day and my family and my health.'"

Kerr also revealed how deeply in tune she stays with her emotions, noting just how important a person's mind can be over their perception of their situation. "Change your thoughts, change your reality," she said.
