Gabrielle Union Is Stunning With Her Natural Hair
Gabrielle Union is rocking her natural hair while under quarantine. The Bring It On actress shared a video on Instagram on April 4 of herself playing with her natural curls with a huge smile on her face. She listened to Leikeli47's song, "Wash & Set" as she combed through her short hair.
The actress captioned the video, "When your natural locks appreciate the lock down. Unlocking the secret soon..." She also added the hashtags, "#InTheLab #QuarantineNaturalHairChronicles #FrederickDouglassRealness."
Union's hairstylist Larry Sims commented, "Let's Gooooooo!!!!!" Actress Tracee Ellis Ross wrote, "Yes beauty!!!!" Union also received loving comments from Naomi Campbell, Normani, and more.
The following day, Union shared a series of photos with her 1-year-old daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, on her back as she played with her mom's hair. The mother-daughter duo both share the same hair texture. "See @kaaviajames mama's got hair like yours!!" the actress captioned the gallery. "When I took my braids out she was like ππ€ now mom & baby both rocking their natural curls β€ππ€."
Gabrielle Union is known for rocking protective hairstyles
Union typically styles her hair in various protective styles such as box braids, cornrows, ponytails with extensions, and wigs. The L.A.'s Finest star always posts her latest hairdo on Instagram, but she rarely rocks her natural hair.
In November 2019, it was reported by Variety that she received "excessive notes" about her ever changing hairstyles before she was fired as a judge from America's Got Talent. Union was allegedly told that her hairstyles were "too black."
The following month, Union posted a video on Instagram of all the different hairstyles she wore during her time on AGT. She captioned the clip, "Unapologetically me. Be comfortable and confident with your whole ass self. It might give others the fluuuxxx but never stop being you. You can shine on your own terms. And if you got something to say π€·πΎββοΈ I don't take notes rooted in anti-blackness. I love me as I am." Her hairstylist Sims chimed in and commented, "Too Black? Nah... She's FLAWLESS!!!"
