The Real Reason Peter Weber Still Lives In His Parents' House

Peter Weber is a man of many surprises. From the infamous windmill incident to his shocking Bachelor finale, we never know what to expect from him. One of the major themes explored on his Bachelor season was his strong bond with his family, especially his mom, Barbara.

Peter is so tight with his family, in fact, that he still lives at home. Some people might think that this is strange for a man in his late 20s with a successful career as a pilot but, as Barb herself explained, it's no big deal in her culture.

"People forget: I'm Cuban, OK," she said on the Bachelor Party podcast (via People). "In old time Cuba, the kids would be at home and in their 20s they would get married, and they would still live at home. They would have children, and the grandparents... it was one big happy family. Everybody living at home, so contrary to what a lot of people say like, can't wait to get rid of the kids... our culture is a little bit different, and not that one is right and one is wrong, we want to keep that family tie, that unity together."

Peter Weber is also staying at home to save money

Barb added that part of the reason Peter lives at home is because of work. Since he's gone so much of the week for his job as a pilot, it makes no sense for him to pay rent on a place that will sit empty. "He can buy a house tomorrow if he wanted it," she said. "Responsibly, he can do it, but I'm just looking for the right place for him when we do decide that he's going to take that step... but we're very happy living at home, everybody together."

While living at home might cramp some people's style, Peter revealed to ET (via YouTube) that his mom has always been okay with him bringing women home. "I've brought girls home, and it's not weird," he said. "The next morning, I'll wake up and the girl is making breakfast with my mom, and they're chatting it up. I know it's not normal."

Peter did reveal, though, that he plans to fly the coop soon, at least temporarily. During an Instagram Live Q&A session in March (via People), a fan asked if he had any plans to move out of his parents house. Pilot Pete replied, "...yes, either NYC for about a year or L.A." No telling what happens after a year is up, but we're sure Barb would welcome him back home with open arms.
