The Stunning Transformation Of Lola Consuelos

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' daughter almost certainly could've had a successful acting career if she so desired. After all, her parents have been small screen stars since the '90s and sure seem to have a lot of powerful friends in Hollywood. However, the truth about Lola Consuelos is that she has her sights set on a totally different path in the entertainment world: music.

"Obviously there's always the elephant in the room of whoever my parents may be, but I'm really lucky that aren't in the music industry and they actually know nothing about it," she told E! News in 2023. "So, of course I'm going to have to prove myself more, but I don't think it makes it any less difficult for me just because they aren't singers. The pressure should be on regardless."

Lola was born in New York City on June 16, 2001, to the current hosts of "Live with Kelly and Mark." Needless to say, her family is anything but typical. Despite the unique challenges that come with being the child of a very famous couple, Lola has remained grounded. Here is how she's transformed over the years and paved her own path.

Lola Consuelos was almost called Sophia

Coming up with a baby name that feels right can be a daunting task for "regular" people, but that pressure is on another level when it comes to celebrities. After all, their baby names are subjected to the court of public opinion. While some stars may try to cook up the most unique and unusual names possible for their little ones, it seems Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos didn't sweat too much when naming Michael, Joaquin, and Lola Consuelos.

As Ripa told her then-cohost Ryan Seacrest on "Live" (via Hello!) in 2021, their eldest child, Michael, was named after both of Mark's late grandfathers. However, they initially had another name in mind for their firstborn. "We sort of liked the name Joaquin a lot and we thought we would name him Joaquin," she said. And so, when their second son arrived, they called him Joaquin.

Before their daughter was born, they thought they'd call her Sophia, but fate had a different plan. "I was in labor, back of the cab, I was very uncomfortable! And the cab driver had the radio on a seventies station and 'Copacabana' by Barry Manilow was playing. And that opening line, 'Her name was Lola' and I was like, 'It's a great name!'" Ripa recalled.

Lola Consuelos' birth was announced on TV hours after her arrival

Lola Consuelos' birth was revealed on an episode of "Live with Regis and Kelly," practically in real time. As Kelly Ripa recalled on a 2025 episode of "Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce," she did not wait long to reach out to her talk show to break the news of her daughter's arrival.

After Ripa spent 14 hours in labor, the nurses advised her to call out of work. "And sure enough, I call in [to the show] and they said, 'She's here?' And I said, 'Yeah, she's here' ... She timed it just right for her to be announced during the show," Ripa said. She told her cohost Regis Philbin the good news over the phone, and her call was featured on that day's episode. "[The hospital staff] was sort of excited, you know, just to know that they were calling into Regis, who was such a cultural icon in that moment," she said.

Lola Consuelos was a strong-willed child

Although she is fully prepared to do the hard work to keep her kids on track, there have been times when Kelly Ripa struggled with Lola Consuelos. As Ripa told WebMD (via People) in 2008, her daughter proved to be a force to be reckoned with from a young age. "With Lola, everything is up for debate. Everything is a conversation," Ripa divulged. "First thing in the morning, it's a major discussion about what she's going to wear."

While Ripa certainly loves that her daughter is a strong-willed and independent young person, that's not to say the TV host hasn't reached her limit. As Ripa said in the aforementioned WebMD interview, she worried Consuelos' inquisitive nature might rear its head at a particularly bad time. "This is New York," she said. "There could be a terrorist attack. And I can just see me having to debate with Lola about why we have to leave right this minute. I've literally had to say to her: 'Honey, if there's an emergency, you don't have the liberty to argue with Mommy, OK?"

There was a time when Kelly Ripa thought her daughter didn't like her

Kelly Ripa is a proud, doting mother who is obsessed with her children and eager to gush over any and all of their achievements, but the "All My Children" alum is no pushover either. As Ripa explained during a 2014 appearance on "The Wendy Williams Show" (via E! News), she doesn't care about being liked. Rather, it's more important to her that her kids listen to and respect her. Of Lola Consuelos, she shrugged, "I don't think she likes me, but I don't care. I'm like, 'I'm not your friend, I'm your mom.'"

Ripa admitted that her main concern is keeping her daughter grounded so she'll understand how the real world works and won't just expect everything to go her way all the time. She even regaled Williams with a story about how Lola had her phone and internet privileges revoked after slacking off instead of doing her homework. "We're very fair parents and we will give you certain freedoms, but ... you can't have privacy and be on Instagram. That's not how it works," she explained of her and Mark Consuelos' approach to keeping their children in check.

Lola Consuelos did not love being asked about Riverdale

For four seasons of "Riverdale," Mark Consuelos played Hiram Lodge, the biggest gangster in town and father figure to the scheming Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes). The primetime series introduced Mark to a younger audience, but there was at least one member of that younger audience who was not super thrilled about him being on the show.

Evidently, Lola Consuelos downplayed her dad's involvement on the series — and then some. "Right before I was starting 'Riverdale,' one of Lola's friends in homeroom asked her, 'Hey, is your dad on "Riverdale"?' Like, she knows I'm on 'Riverdale.' But she answers, 'Um...I don't know?' She didn't want to cop to it," he told Esquire in 2019. "Her friend was like, 'You don't know?' Lola was like, 'Well, kind of, OK?' She's a piece of work." In a 2023 interview with "The Jess Cagle Show," Mark noted that Lola regularly feigned ignorance whenever his role on the series came up. "She did not like the attention," he said.

However Lola Consuelos still watched Riverdale

Despite being too embarrassed to even acknowledge to her classmates that Mark Consuelos was "Riverdale," Lola Consuelos was indeed a fan of the primetime series. "I wish you could watch 'Riverdale' with my 16-year-old daughter, who is like, 'I can't believe dad is on a show that I actually watch,'" Kelly Ripa told Jimmy Fallon on a 2017 episode of "The Tonight Show" (via Refinery29). "So, Veronica — she's 16 also — and she drinks mimosas at breakfast. My daughter's like, 'Dad never lets me drink mimosas at breakfast.' And I go, 'Yeah, because he's a real father and that's a character on TV.' "

Mark was not the only member of Lola's family to appear on "Riverdale."  Her older brother, Michael Consuelos, played the younger version of Hiram Lodge on two episodes, and Ripa played Mrs. Mulwray in one episode.

Lola Consuelos' parents have always admired her style

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos may both be incredibly famous TV hosts and actors, but apparently, their daughter was not terribly impressed by them when she was a teen — or at the very least, she did not seem terribly impressed. On the flip side, her parents have long celebrated how effortlessly chic and stylish Lola Consuelos is. "She's cool. She's really cool. She's always been cool," Mark told People in 2019. Ripa went on to add, "We have nothing to do with it literally because she's mortified by everything we put on."

While they might've felt like their daughter couldn't have possibly learned a thing from them when it came to fashion, evidently, that wasn't the case. Years later, on a 2025 episode of "Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa," Lola gave her mother some credit regarding sartorial wisdom. "You've given me so many meaningful pieces of advice," Lola said. "One of them being don't wear leggings as pants. That was amazing."

Lola Consuelos was raised to have a strong work ethic

One of the major perks of having parents who work in the business is getting a leg up. However, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are adamant that their kids aren't just handed whatever they want. This was especially evident in the wake of the college admissions scandal, which involved fellow actors Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. "I'm so glad this scandal broke after my kids went through [the college application process] because I know my daughter would have been like, 'Hey, can you call that man?'" she quipped on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" at the time.

Although Ripa wants her kids to have the best of everything in life, it's important to her that they earn it. Back in 2016, Ripa proudly told People both Michael and Lola Consuelos were spending that summer working in California alongside their father. "The two teens are doing internships. They're working at film houses, and Mark is working on a TV show," she gushed with pride.

In a 2023 interview with E! News, Lola shared that she's learned a lot about work ethic by just watching her parents. "I've always seen them stay really true to themselves and authentic and respectful and grounded and to work hard," she said. "I'm really grateful to have them as built-in mentors."

Lola Consuelos' parents want her to feel empowered

Being a young girl growing up in the public eye is tough, but Lola Consuelos has always had a strong support system. It's evident that both of her parents are not only very much in her corner, but want her to feel empowered.

In a 2018 interview with Today, Mark Consuelos shared that he's inspired by his mother and his wife, both of whom he described as "very powerful." The "Riverdale" alum stated, "We are limiting ourselves when we eliminate or exclude half of our population, which are women, their voices, their ideas, their contributions."

He expressed horror at the idea Lola could face a wage gap upon entering the workforce and emphasized the importance of teaching his kids that this isn't acceptable and to fight for their rights. Although Consuelos does the best he can, he sees Kelly Ripa as the biggest encouragement for his daughter. "The biggest step to show that she is just as good as boys is her mother, who is an amazing role model," he said. "She works, she provides, she contributes, and she shapes the conversations in our lives."

Lola Consuelos has been 'grossed out' by her parents

Lola Consuelos isn't one to shy away from calling out Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' TMI comments. In March 2019, Ripa posted a throwback photo of her and Mark Consuelos on Instagram and wrote, "Those hands." Lola then took the comment section and replied, "Is the caption necessary?" When a fan tried to intervene, suggesting the commenter was just jealous, Ripa responded, "No she's just grossed out. That's my daughter."

Then, just a few months later, Mark appeared on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" and recounted the story of being caught in the act by Lola on Father's Day — coincidentally her birthday. According to Ripa, Lola informed her parents later that day, "You guys have no chill. You act like you're 20, but you're not."

In February 2020, Lola called her parents out again for being too mushy in public after Ripa shared a funny video of a producer hiding under her dress while adjusting it for a red carpet. In the comment section of the Instagram post, Mark replied, "Been there." Lola naturally waded in, writing simply, "Absolutely repulsive."

Lola Consuelos put her own spin on her prom dress

In 2019, Lola Consuelos went to prom, where she wore a beautiful emerald green dress. Kelly Ripa shared some shots from the big night on Instagram (via People) and wrote, "It only took 20 hours, but we finally got two approved prom photos." Speaking of approval, there was one element of the dress, which was designed by Raza Wijdan, that Ripa did not exactly sign off on before prom night arrived.

When Consuelos was ready to head off to the big dance, the longtime "Live" host realized a certain very noticeable alteration had been made to the gown. While appearing on Jerry O'Connell's "Jerry O' Show," Ripa revealed that her daughter reached out to the designer and had the dress' neckline reworked without her parents' knowledge. "So that's why the girls are fully on display," Ripa quipped of the deep V-cut silhouette.

Lola Consuelos headed to college in 2019

In 2019, Lola Consuelos began studying music at New York University's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Kelly Ripa admitted in an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," how emotional it was dropping her off for the first time, but said she was looking forward to Lola being totally independent. That is, if she could get over one major issue. "Sharing a bathroom with five roommates; it's gonna be the main challenge," Ripa laughed.

Thankfully, Lola settled in just fine, with Ripa telling guest host Anderson Cooper on a 2019 episode of "Live with Kelly and Ryan" that she loved it at NYU. "She was born to live outside of the house!" Ripa enthused, sharing that Lola used to play pretend dorm room when she was a little girl. However, Lola might have been having a little too much fun. As Ripa revealed on a subsequent episode, she had to cut off Lola's debit card because she was spending too much money on Postmates.

Lola Consuelos shared her singing ability with the world

In December 2019, Lola Consuelos posted some videos on Instagram where she was singing and playing the piano. Both of her proud parents responded to the since-deleted post (via ABC News), with Kelly Ripa gushing, "You are gifted," while Mark Consuelos posted a string of heart emojis. Camila Mendes, who played Mark's onscreen daughter Veronica on "Riverdale," also chimed in, writing, "GIRL?" Lola's younger brother, Joaquin Consuelos, commented, "Wow! The best voice I've ever heard!"

On a 2025 episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark" (TV Guide), Ripa remembered an episode of "Live with Kelly and Regis" where legendary vocalist Céline Dion serenaded Lola, who was still a baby at the time. As far as Ripa's concerned, she has Dion to thank for her Lola's own vocal talent. "I am convinced it's because Céline blessed her," the host quipped. "She sang it into her."

Lola Consuelos spent time with her family during the pandemic lockdown

Lola Consuelos might have been excited to finally be on her own at college, but in the middle of her first year, she headed right back home. In spring 2020, NYU pivoted to remote learning and shut down residential halls due to the pandemic. And so, Lola returned to her family's Manhattan abode.

On a virtual episode of "Live with Kelly and Ryan" (via Hollywood Life), Lola told Ryan Seacrest that as much as she might've missed being at school, she was grateful for the temporary arrangement. "It's honestly not as bad as I thought," Lola said. "I think we're all just very lucky to be together at home, all of us. A lot more family time, which is great."

In addition to enjoying spending more time with her family, Lola stayed busy trying to keep her parents off of TikTok. As Kelly Ripa told Seacrest, "You have a better chance of doing a TikTok video with Lola ... That I can guarantee you."

Lola Consuelos moved to London with her boyfriend

During her time at New York University, Lola Consuelos met the person who would become her longterm boyfriend. Cassius Kidston was one of Lola's classmates at NYU, and when their paths crossed, sparks flew. The son of car-collecting legend Simon Kidston, Cassius knew what it was like to hail from a well-known family. He was also no stranger to the jet-set lifestyle. And, as we know, Lola needed someone who would understand that Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa's kids live really lavish lives. Apparently a match made in heaven, Lola and Cassius started dating. Before long, they decided to move in together — albeit across the pond.

After graduating from NYU in 2023, Lola and Cassius relocated to London, where they could each pursue their respective careers. While Lola has focused on making music, Cassius has found success at CAA, where he has worked in sports talent sales. Ultimately, the move has allowed Lola and Cassius to spend more time with the Kidston family in the U.K. — although Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa are still very much in the picture. On a 2025 episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark" (via Hello!), Mark said that their daughter had been home for Thanksgiving. An added bonus? The whole Kidston crew joined in on the holiday. "Our daughter's boyfriend's parents came over for dinner. I like them so much, they're not our in-laws, but they're my daughter's boyfriend's parents," he spilled.

Her first single was about conquering fear

Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa's daughter, Lola Consuelos, may have fallen in love at NYU, but that doesn't mean she stopped chasing after her more career-oriented goals. A year before her 2023 graduation, Lola released her first single, a jazz-inspired tune titled "Paranoia Silverlining." For the singer, this piece followed a long, hard creative journey toward self-discovery. "I think a lot of artists would understand that finding your sound is a really difficult thing, and this was a song that I felt like sounded like me finally," Lola told Billboard. As soon as she finished this song, Lola felt something just click. "I knew I had to release it," she revealed.

At its core, "Paranoia Silverlining" is a piece about overcoming fear. As Lola said in the aforementioned interview with Billboard, she wanted to explore the theme of realizing that everything is going to be okay. "The song is about the idea that sometimes your biggest fears are all in your head," Lola explained. Throughout the process of writing the song with her colleagues, the singer had to confront many of her own fears about the future. "It was a super therapeutic process. I think everyone came to a bunch of realizations while writing it because we're all pretty paranoid," she laughed. At the end of the day, though, Lola quite poetically had nothing to be afraid of, and her song turned out to be a total stunner.

Lola Consuelos released her first EP

After Lola Consuelos released her first single, she didn't want to stop making music. If anything, the singer's first creative experience motivated her to pursue music even more fully. In 2025, Consuelos' fans were thrilled with the release of her first EP — a miniature album featuring five songs. Titled, "Sorry, it's all about me," this project once again explored some of Consuelos' deepest feelings and most pressing concerns. As the artist shared in the caption of a post on Instagram in the hours before the EP's release, "This process has helped me let go of old grudges and unsaid feelings, and has helped me stay present and appreciative for everything that comes my way."

Interestingly, Consuelos said that she also benefited a lot from other artists' thoughts and contributions while creating this project. This process of teamwork helped Consuelos shift her perspective and produce something totally original. As she shared in the previously cited Instagram caption, "Writing is one of the most beautiful forms of therapy, and being able to put those thoughts into a song is even better ... everyone I've collaborated with has unlocked something within me." She was particularly grateful to her co-writers for helping her be authentic. Apparently, these colleagues went out of their way to help Consuelos open up. "They created an environment where I felt ready and comfortable being specific and intentional with my music," she told Euphoria in 2025.
