The Truth About 90 Day Fiance's Kenneth And Armando

While 90 Day Fiancé debuted in 2014, it took until 2020 for any of the franchise's shows to feature a same-sex couple. This year, Stephanie and Erika, who are bisexual, became the first when they appeared on season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Now, the franchise is featuring its first male same-sex couple on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way: Kenneth and Armando.

Kenneth, 57, met Armando, 31, online in a support group for gay fathers. Kenneth has four adult children and one grandchild, while Armando has a young daughter. Kenneth said that he had been a fan of the franchise for a while before signing up for the show. "I watched a couple seasons of it, I thought it was great," Kenneth told press on a call (via E! News). "Of course, I never dreamed I could be on a show like that."

When Kenneth first saw 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, though, he realized that it followed couples like him, who go abroad to find love, and he asked Armando if he'd like to apply to be on the show.

Kenneth and Armando are excited to share their story on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way

Kenneth and Armando decided to apply for the show because they want to share their love and hopefully inspire others. "We both went into this wanting to tell our story," said Kenneth. "We want to show our love and we want people to see that. I said in one of the teasers, love is a powerful thing. Love can stop wars. We're hoping that love can melt hearts and love can open minds."

Kenneth is moving to Mexico to be with Armando, as Armando wants to keep his daughter close to family. Per his Instagram bio, Armando is an architect and an entrepreneur. He was previously married to a woman, although he struggled with his sexuality. He later separated from his wife, who has since passed away, and is out to his family. The couple braced themselves for potential homophobia when they joined the show, especially Armando who has not been out as long as Kenneth. "I'm a little nervous, personally, not knowing what to expect," Armando told ET. "I'm recently coming out so, you know, putting it out to the world is a big step for me."
