The Real Reason Marie Osmond Is Leaving The Talk After One Season
Marie Osmond just announced that she was leaving The Talk after only one season (via Deadline). Her announcement came shortly after news that The Talk's longtime executive producer, John Redmann, left the show after 10 years. Osmond joined the CBS daytime show after former host Sara Gilbert left. She had already guest hosted the show 40 times, which made her a natural fit to join Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood at the round table.
"Marie is a consummate professional, and we thank her for sharing her personal experiences, insight, as well as incredible talents, with our audience," CBS told Deadline. One of Osmond's co-hosts, Sharon Osborne, commented on Osmond's Instagram post about her departure. "Marie, I really enjoyed getting to know you over the last year," Osborne said. "Your contribution to The Talk was very special and you will be missed."
Why Marie Osmond really left The Talk
So what made Osmond give up the gig? According to her, there's no drama behind her departure. Shooting a daily talk show doesn't leave the 60-year-old much time to spend with her family. "[My] husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed and remembered we hadn't been this alone together since 1982!!," Osmond wrote on her Instagram post. "So, at this stage of my life, I'm looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids."
Osmond hasn't left her family from The Talk behind. She says she's planning to pursue some upcoming projects with her former producer, John Redmann. For now, the current panel will start shooting without Osmond until a new host is announced. But for fans who just can't wait for their fix, she's got an upcoming Lifetime Christmas movie, The Christmas Edition, with two more holiday films in development.
