The Surprise Royal Wedding That Happened Right Under Our Noses

The COVID-19 pandemic may have derailed wedding plans all over the world, but people have been finding creative ways to tie the knot in spite of social distancing and bans on large gatherings making any sort of party tricky to throw. This year seems to be the year of secret royal weddings. First, Princess Beatrice quietly married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July in a small ceremony. Not to be outdone, another member of the royal family has also secretly wed recently.

Royal watchers found out that Flora Ogilvy, who is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth and the granddaughter of Princess Alexandra, secretly got married after she announced the news on Instagram at the beginning of October. "Timothy and I were married privately at Chapel Royal, St James's Palace on Saturday 26th September," she wrote in the caption of a photo of the couple on their wedding day.

It seems that a larger celebration is in the works, though, so the couple will be able to celebrate their union in style. "We are truly overjoyed and look forward to celebrating next year," she added.

The newlyweds are keeping details of their surprise royal wedding under wraps

We don't know much else about the wedding. The happy groom, Timothy Vesterberg, posted the same photo on his own Instagram and did not share any additional details. Per Town & Country, the royal is an art curator, consultant, and speaker. She first announced her engagement last November on Instagram, writing, "We're engaged! My beloved Timothy asked me to marry him and we're blissfully happy."

The new bride — who is taking her husband's name and has already changed her Instagram handle to @floravesterberg — isn't in the public eye as much as her royal relatives, but it's still surprising that her wedding saw so little fanfare. Her new husband also seems to prefer to keep his personal life private, rarely posting on social media. According to the Daily Mail, Vesterberg, who is from Sweden, played professional ice hockey before becoming an investment banker.
