Here's Where NYC Prep Star Camille Hughes Is Today

Remember 2009? Gossip Girl was entering its third season of television and thanks to Blair, Serena, Nate and Chuck (yes, even him), everyone wanted to be an Upper East Sider.

Enter: NYC Prep, the Bravo reality television show that followed several teenagers living their best lives and attending some of Manhattan's most elite high schools. The show only aired for one season, and yet it netted some memorable moments, as it highlighted the various teenaged antics of Camille Isobel Hughes, Jessica "Jessie" Leavitt, Kelli Brooke Tomashoff, Sebastian Oppenheim, Taylor DiGiovanni and Peter Cary "PC" Peterson (via New York Post).

The show was created by at least one former member of Manhattan's high school elite: Liz Alderman, an alumna of Brearley School and its teaching staff. She met co-creator Matt O'Brien while working as producers on Tim Gunn's Guide to Style and began hashing out their ideas for the show (via New York Magazine).

Camille Hughes was NYC Prep's "Blair Waldorf"

If NYC Prep was meant to be real-life Gossip Girl, then Camille Hughes was the closest thing the show had to a Blair Waldorf. Camille was extremely dedicated to her goal of getting into Harvard — and her headband collection (although Blair would probably have some notes).

Despite her hard work, Hughes ultimately didn't end up attending Harvard (it's OK, Blair didn't get to go to Yale either). She instead attended the College of William and Mary, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority (via Wonderwall). Since then, Hughes has settled in San Clemente, California. A former neuroscience major, Hughes now works for the vegan wellness brand Arbonne International (via New York Post).

"It's like @LaurenConrad and I are switching places #lagunabeach#nycprep," Hughes joked on Twitter of the move in 2014 (via Bravo TV).

Despite the big change, Hughes seems to have flourished with the move. Her boyfriend, Michael, popped the big question during the Coronavirus quarantine (via Wonderwall).

Camille Hughes is fine being a former "Bravoleb"

Although things seem to have worked out well for Hughes, NYC Prep did threaten her status at the prestigious Nightingale Bamford School (via New York Magazine).

At the time of the show's airing, the headmistress of Nightingale Bamford sent an email to parents reading "As with most series of this genre, the show is 'reality' in name only." Ultimately Hughes decided to transfer schools, spending her senior year at NYC's Professional Children School (via BravoTV).

But for her part, Hughes never saw taking part in NYC Prep as an opportunity for stardom.

"I saw it like any other extracurricular activity," she told Paper magazine in 2014. "Like, 'Okay, so I'm going to do lacrosse, and also a TV show.'"

Despite any potential lingering ill will towards the show, Hughes's Instagram bio sees her leaning into her former status. Her bio reads, "Former NYC Bravoleb turned SoCal CPG corporate marketer."
