The Surprising Thing Some Love Is Blind Contestants Did During Pod Dates

If you haven't watched Netflix's Love Is Blind, boy do you need to! The reality dating show, which took the world by storm when it was released in early 2020, is a dating show like no other. And it all comes down to the infamous pods. Basically, the cast members go on blind dates in pods and eventually get engaged — before ever seeing the other person.

As Paria Sadighi, senior vice president of communications, public relations, and marketing for Kinetic Content, the company that designed the soundproof pods, told Refinery29, "The comforting and soothing colors of the pods were all by design to allow our participants the best chance to really focus on the voice on the other side of the wall." She continued, "Even the acoustics of the pods were made to help the other senses relax into the octave of conversations." And as it turns out, the pods were so relaxing that some cast members would fall asleep in them.

Some Love Is Blind contestants slept in the pods

As Love Is Blind couple Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton told Buzzfeed, if you weren't vibing with the other person, having a nap in the pod was the next best thing. "There was an allotted time for dates. So say if it was two hours that day, you'd have two hours with that person," Speed told the outlet. "Though some people, if you didn't match with someone, they'd be like, 'Okay, this isn't a romantic match.' They'd just nap for two hours."

Oh, and when they weren't napping and weren't interested in their date, they spoke about their other dates. As Hamilton told Buzzfeed, "Sometimes you'd realize you weren't going to connect with someone, so you'd spend that time talking to someone about who you were interested in. Or trying to give the other person some insight about who they were interested in."

Now we can't help but wonder what else went on behind the scenes ...
