Chrissy Teigen's New Hair Is Causing Double Takes

Model Chrissy Teigen is taking the adage "New Year, New Me" quite literally. Over the years, the cookbook author has experimented with her hair and style, from gracing the red carpet with a short, sleek bob and statement pieces, to rocking a more laidback look at home like matching rompers with her daughter, Luna. She's not afraid to test out different looks and regularly documents her fashion journey or mishaps for her followers, which is what makes her style the perfect embodiment of her outgoing personality.

Teigen even rang in 2021 with a new nose piercing. She's apparently flirted with getting a nose piercing for a while, and even asked her fans for feedback on if she could pull it off in July 2020 (via Refinery 29). Edgy piercing now crossed off of her list, Teigen debuted another look on her social media, and it's a complete departure for her. In January 2021, she traded in her signature golden- brown locks for purple mermaid hair — and singlehandedly broke social media with the switch-up.

Chrissy Teigen's hair transformation is a pastel dream

Don't be alarmed. Instead of permanently committing to purple hair dye, Chrissy Teigen is testing the waters with a fun wig. The long, lavender locks complement her skin tone and draw attention to her stunning cheekbones. She actually teased this hair transformation a week prior on Instagram, and first used a filter to play around with the bold new color (via Page Six). Although the look is temporary — for now — both posts left fans wondering the reason behind the drastic change.

Teigen admitted that she just wanted to feel more like herself. In her mermaid hair filter "trial run," she wrote, "I realize this looks like I'm having a crisis ... lol. I just wanna start looking the way I've always wanted to!" Simple but understood.

With Teigen showing off her adventurous side, this has us dreaming up more pastel hair colors she could rock. She could follow in the footsteps of singer Hilary Duff and go with bright blue hair. The Disney star debuted electric blue hair in April 2020, right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic (via Bustle). Duff wasn't the only one experimenting with colors. According to Health, in 2020, many people used quarantine to try new hair colors and styles in order to keep themselves occupied and motivated.

Whatever hair color this trendsetter experiments with next, it's bound to make waves online. Teigen's honesty and carefree nature has us running to our closest beauty supply store for a new 'do.
