Kate Middleton Celebrated Her 39th Birthday In Royal Style
Kate Middleton turned 39 on January 9, and the Duchess of Cambridge didn't let COVID-19 lockdown measures stop her from (safely) celebrating in royal style with her family.
Although she wasn't able to see her parents like she has on past birthdays, the Duchess was perfectly content to have a low-key celebration. "Catherine isn't one for lots of fuss or big parties — being with William and the children is her favorite way of spending her birthday," a friend told Vanity Fair.
The family celebrated Middleton's special day at their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England, where they have been staying since the Christmas season. Prince William arranged a few surprises, including family video calls and a small party at the home.
In true British fashion, William and the couple's three children, Prince George, age 7; Princess Charlotte, age 5; and Prince Louis, age 2, threw a tea party for Middleton (via PureWow).

Luckily, throwing the perfect tea party for his wife was no challenge for the future King. In fact, he's typically the one to make and serve tea to visitors.
"If you go round to [Middleton's] house, you get a cup of tea, and it's often William who makes it!" a friend of Middleton's told People in December. "It's a lovely, welcoming house, not a fancy, stuffy palace in any way."
Although Kate's birthday celebration didn't include as many family members as usual, they shared their love on social media. The Clarence House Instagram account, which represents the office of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, shared a "Happy Birthday" post, as did the official Royal Family account.
The couple shared their own Instagram post, thanking well-wishers and expressing their gratitude to frontline workers.
"Thank you for your kind wishes on The Duchess' birthday," the post read. "Birthdays have been very different in recent months, and our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time."
