The Sex And The City Reboot Will Be Missing This Important Character

To those of us who watched Sex and the City when from the time it first debuted on HBO straight to time it hit the big screen, we all just assumed the friendship between Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha would last forever, just as the relationships the women would have with the men in their lives (Big, a.k.a. John James Preston; Steve; and Harry Goldenblatt) would go on.

So when Page Six reported that Mr. Big, who was played by actor Chris Noth, would not be in the Sex and the City reboot, we can only imagine that there were more than a few SATC fans who wouldn't admit to dying a little inside. That's not all; Page Six also said that Steve, who Miranda had an on-again-off-again-then-on-again relationship with wouldn't be making it back either. Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, has already said she wouldn't be returning so there were no surprises there.

And just like that, we began to wonder what actually became of Big and Steve, and whether they would be killed off, or whether they were simply forced to take a trip somewhere, or if they were no longer a part of the women's lives for good.  

Some fans think the 10-episode SATC sequel, which is called And Just Like That (after a famous Carrie catchphrase) would pick up where an unmade third SATC movie would have left off, and that is, with Mr. Big's rumored death after a heart attack in the shower (via Today). But Noth has previously said there was no way that was going to happen: "He wasn't going to die. There's no way he was dying. That was all a lie," he told Page Six.

So what becomes of Mr. Big, then? While Sarah Jessica Parker herself has would only say "Wait and see" (via Glamour), the reason itself could be as mundane as the fact that Noth himself is busy with his other work, which includes The Equalizer on TV, as well as films Brooklyn All American and Someday Sometime (via Daily Mail).  That gives those of us that have shipped Carrie and Big for forever a glimmer of hope that in fact, Big will just be stuck somewhere quarantining for an extended period of time, like some of us have been in real life.
