Kim Kardashian's First Instagram Post Since Filing For Divorce Is Bittersweet

So Kim Kardashian finally did it — we've all seen her divorce from Kanye West coming from a long way away, and evidently so did Kim. As one of those mysterious "insiders" who seem to surround celebrities revealed to E!, Kim had actually wanted to file last year, and in fact the couple have been separated for a while. As another inside source said, Kim "already felt like she's been divorced for months now." Still, no matter how wealthy, famous, and good looking you may be, in the words of Abba (and just about everybody else), "Breaking up is never easy."

While it seems that Kim is doing okay overall and is ready to move on, she's still sad about this painful decision and may be wishing she had some confidantes who'd be guaranteed not to go running to the tabloids every time there were beans to spill. Sure, she's got her kids, but they're a little young to understand what mom's going through. Luckily, it seems they're not terribly upset by their parents' split, because they're actually used to not having Daddy around. It's likely that Kim's getting lots of support from her sisters and her mom, but there's one person Kim wishes were still around to make it all better: Her late father, Robert Kardashian.

Kim Kardashian is really missing her dad

The Kardashian family patriarch, Robert, died some 18 years ago, but he's still very much on Kim Kardashian's mind. As sister Khloé Kardashian shared on her blog a few years back, their father's secret parenting hack was simply this: "unconditional love." No wonder he's the one Kim would wish to turn to in her time of trouble. She broke her post-divorce-announcement Instagram silence of three days (which is like three years in non-reality-star time) to post a touching tribute to her late parent, making it clear that she'd do anything to have him back by her side just now.

Kim started off her post with a birthday shout-out to her late father, telling him, "I celebrate you every single day but today even more." She then revealed something truly heartbreaking, saying she had, "So much to tell you! I called your cell phone number just wondering if anyone would pick up after all these years." While it seems no one did (probably a good thing, since the number's sure to have been re-assigned by now), she went on to beg him, "Please come visit me in a dream soon. ... Also can you pretty please send down a sign in the form of those symbols/birds we always talked about?!?! I just miss you sooooo much!" Poor Kim.

Khloe Kardashian posted similar reminiscences

In addition to the aforementioned photo, Kim Kardashian also posted an Instagram Story featuring a montage of throwback shots of herself and her sibs with their dad, many of them showing, in her words, "a whole '90s vibe" (via People). For her part, sister Khloé Kardashian also shared a similar series of shots on her own Instagram Story, as well as posting a brief video on Instagram of her father on the golf course (that same video featured in Kim's Story, as well). Khloé's sweet caption was: "Happy birthday daddy! Every SINGLE day, I miss you! EVERYONE here misses you! I know you're in a better place but it never gets easier. I love you! I love you! I love you!"

Also sweet, but slightly creepy, was a hologram version of Robert Kardashian Sr. that played a part in Khloé's story. Holo Robert was famously a birthday gift from Kanye West to then-wife Kim last year, something that she tweeted at the time was "the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime. A special surprise from heaven." Umm, okay. As long as it makes them feel better, that's what counts.

Fans were super sympathetic toward Kim Kardashian

Although the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan has their share of detractors, and not all of Kim Kardashian's Instagram posts are always well-received (as with the recent flap over daughter North West and her artistic skills), no one was cruel enough to go after an about-to-be-divorced woman sharing her pain over her absent father. Many Instagram users just sent hearts, while some put it in words: "Sending you and your fam much love!"

A few, however, went a bit more metaphysical. One comment on Kim's recent post read, "He's here Kimberly. And he loves you." While over on sister Khloé Kardashian's post, a similar sentiment was expressed by another Instagram user: "He's watching over you and is so proud." As, undoubtedly, he would be. The late Robert Kardashian's girls have certainly made something of themselves in the years he's been gone. And even when they're undergoing such tough times, as Kim must be just now with her marriage coming to an end, they've always shown themselves to be survivors.

Yes, it's tough to be missing a loved one when your life's in such turmoil, and we hope Kim finds the comfort she needs. We've no doubt she'll come out of this ordeal stronger than ever!
