This Memorabilia From Princess Diana Just Sold For A Lot Of Money

Decades after her death, the public fascination with Princess Diana is just as strong as it ever was. It shouldn't be surprising, then, that letters and cards of the late royal's recently went up for auction and sold for an impressive sum.

The correspondence was sent from the royal to Roger Bramble, a family friend, between 1990 and 1997. "The letters reveal a witty and intelligent hand with a great generosity of spirit," reads the description of the missives on the David Lay Auctioneers site. "The recipient believes his place in her story was only as a constant, always independent of what else might have been happening at the same time."

A statement from the vendor explained that the letters and cards were being put up for auction due to concerns "that contemporary portrayals of the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, may become accepted wisdom in the minds of the public." The statement continued, "We believe these letters reveal the writer to be an affectionate, cultivated and delightful human being and that their wider publication could only do credit to their author."
