The Heartbreaking Death Of Adam Perkins
Adam Perkins rose to fame as one of the funniest figures on Vine in the days before TikTok was even a thought in people's minds. Sadly, the 24-year-old comedian and musician has died. Adam's twin brother, Patrick Perkins, shared the news of his brother's death with fans in an Instagram post.
"My brother, Adam Perkins, passed away this previous Sunday, 4-11-21," Patrick wrote. "I can't even really put into words what this loss means for me. I'm often asked the question, 'what's it like to be a twin?' and my response is usually, 'what's it like to NOT be a twin?'"
He continued, "Being a twin is a very central part of my identity. It's all i've known. And I'm struggling to find the words to explain what it will be like for me to live in this world without him. My best friend."
Patrick did not reveal Adam's cause of death, which remains unknown at this time.
Adam Perkins loved making people laugh and making music
Adam earned his Vine-famous status for a clip where he walked in a bathroom in just boxer shorts. He enthusiastically exclaims, "Hi! Welcome to Chili's," like servers at the chain restaurant often do. The Chili's clip reportedly accumulated over 20 million views in a year (per Deadline). Adam had around 300,000 followers when the platform shut down in 2017.
Outside of his viral fame, Adam attended New York University, where he graduated with a degree in musical composition. In 2018, he released the album Latch Relay, which Patrick has announced will be released as a limited edition vinyl in Adam's memory (per PopBuzz).
"In 2018, Adam released Latch Relay. In typical Adam fashion, he did no advertising or marketing or promotion," Patrick wrote in another Instagram post. "It was always about the music for him. Nothing else mattered. I ask that you listen to this album if you have not listened already. It is a masterpiece from a genius far beyond his time."
