Inside Princess Eugenie And Prince Harry's Relationship

Ever since the death of Prince Philip earlier in April, all eyes have been on members of the royal family — particularly Prince Harry, who famously stepped down from his royal duties in March of 2020 along with his wife, Meghan Markle. And, given the contents of Harry and Meghan's explosive tell-all interview with Oprah last month, the world was wondering whether or not Prince Harry would be joining his family in the UK for Prince Philip's funeral, which will take place on Saturday, April 17.

According to People, Prince Harry arrived in the UK on April 11, just two days after his grandfather died. Noticeably missing was Meghan Markle and their son, Archie, as Meghan is far along in her pregnancy and was "advised by her physician not to travel," per a royal spokesperson. Harry is reportedly staying at Frogmore Cottage while he's in the UK, and, according to Us Weekly, he's already been in contact with some of his family members — including his cousin, Princess Eugenie, who just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named August in February. The outlet also reports that Harry has already met Eugenie's son upon arriving in England.

Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie have always had a close relationship

According to the book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand write that Harry and Eugenie's bond has been tight ever since they were little. "Eugenie had always been more than just a cousin to Harry. They were also the closest of friends. Out of all the Queen's grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections," the book reads (via People). "Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest, and great fun. The two had many nights out together in London."

"Harry had always confided in his cousin when it came to the women in his life," they added. "Not only did he trust her implicitly, but friends say that she gives great advice and has always been 'beyond wise' for her years."

Furthermore, Princess Eugenie bonded with Meghan Markle over their pregnancies, and they still "remain close friends to this day," (via Us Weekly), so it's no wonder Harry and Eugenie are still so close. "They are sort of an unlikely pair, but remain in contact," a royal insider shared of Eugenie and Meghan's friendship. "They bond over their pregnancies. Eugenie is really the only member of the royal family that Meghan is still close to."
