What Happened To Dominic Hernandez From My 600-Lb Life?

TLC's "My 600-Lb Life" follows the incredible transformations of morbidly obese individuals who undergo life-changing weight-loss journeys. One memorable story featured on the series was that of Dominic Hernandez, who appeared on Season 8 of the reality hit.

Per Heavy, Dominic's struggle with food addiction emerged during his childhood and intensified when his father abandoned him and his brother, James. By his twenties, Dominic weighed more than 500 pounds, and during his first meeting with "My 600-Lb Life's" resident doctor, Dr. Now, he weighed in at 672 pounds. Appearing on the show, Hernandez revealed that he was homeless, and his tough living situation made it particularly difficult to shift the weight.

As InTouch Weekly reports, Dr. Now asked Dominic to shed 60 pounds within the first two months of their first meeting, a goal the surgeon considered to be "very moderate." However, to the disappointment of Dr. Now, Hernandez only managed to lose 23 pounds. During a subsequent appointment, Dominic weighed in at 650.1 pounds, a weight-loss result that forced Dr. Now to cease working with the contestant until he got "serious" about his lifestyle change.

What happened to Dominic Hernandez after the show?

Reflecting on Dominic's time on the show, Dr. Now explained to viewers that he was "glad" to see Hernandez had made "some progress." However, he concluded that he "still seems to lack overall motivation to turn his life around" (via Heavy).

According to Starcasm, Dominic currently appears to be living in Houston, after moving from California to Texas with his brother James during production of "My 600-Lb Life." This could suggest he is filming for a "Where Are They Now?" follow-up episode of the TLC hit. However, nothing has been confirmed by the network, producers, or Dr. Now on this front.

As for an update on his weight-loss progress, the only recent photograph of Dominic was shared on his active GoFundMe page. At the time of writing, the online fundraiser has raised an impressive $8,357 to help Hernandez get his life back on track. However, he is still a long way from reaching his $30,000 goal.

Elsewhere, viewers can also follow Dominic's journey via his Facebook page, where he often updates fans on his day-to-day life.
