Rebel Wilson Reveals New Information About Her Fertility Struggles

Actress Rebel Wilson is best known for making audiences laugh in breakout roles in films such as "Bridesmaids," "Pitch Perfect," and "How to be Single" (via IMDb). However, the Australian native also made headlines for losing 60 pounds (via People). Wilson achieved her weight loss by working out with a trainer and following the Mayr Method, which focuses on eating high-alkaline whole foods, no snacking, limiting gluten and dairy, and chewing foods between 40 to 60 times, according to Women's Health. For Wilson, though, her goal weight of 165 pounds was never about the way she looked.

"My goal was never to be skinny," she told People. "I don't focus too much on the numbers. I still look like me. I love being curvy and I'm still super curvy but just a healthier version. That was my goal." She continued, saying she also encourages "everyone to be the healthiest version of themselves. That doesn't necessarily mean being smaller in size, it just means not engaging in unhealthy behaviors. I like to think I look good at all sizes."

Another inspiration for Wilson's "Year of Health?" Her desire to one day start a family. In December 2020, she told fans she was thinking about freezing her eggs. "So, I was thinking fertility and having quality eggs in the bank," she said. "I was like, 'OK, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna get healthy'" (via People).

Rebel Wilson has been open about her fertility

While Rebel Wilson has hit her goal weight, she revealed that she received some unfortunate information about her fertility. "I got some bad news today and didn't have anyone to share it with ... but I guess I gotta tell someone," she wrote on Instagram. "To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya. The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn't make sense ... but I hope there's light about to shine through all the dark clouds."

This isn't the first time Wilson has spoken about the topic. In 2020, she explained that she had also been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, a hormonal disorder that can cause weight gain, irregular periods, and reproductive issues (via Johns Hopkins Medicine).

"It's just a hormone imbalance and you gain a lot of weight usually and that's how it manifested in me," she told E! News. "Sometimes, I feel sad, but then at the same time, I worked my body to my advantage. I like being all sizes. It's just now turning 40, I am more health conscious and thinking of starting a family."
