Everything We Know About Meghan Markle's First Children's Book

When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in 2018, she became the Duchess of Sussex. While these two have stepped back from being senior members of the royal family, she still does a great deal of work with charities and organizations related to the arts, education, women, and animals, according to royal.uk.

She also has acting credits, as seen on IMDb, appearing on television series such as "90210," "Without a Trace," and "Suits." Last year, Page Six even reported that she will be returning to TV on "I Do, Redo," a reality show about second weddings, which features her best friend, Jessica Mulroney, a wedding stylist. Markle also signed on to do voiceover work for Disney, in exchange for a donation to an elephant charity.

And come summer 2021, she can add that she is the published author of a children's book to her growing list of achievements, as reported by People.

The Bench, by Meghan Markle, will be released June 8

On May 4, 2021, Meghan Markle and Random House Children's Books announced that "The Bench" will be released on June 8. According to the press release, this children's book by the Duchess of Sussex is about the bond between fathers and sons, as seen through a mother's eyes.

"'The Bench' started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born," stated Markle, who shares son, Archie, with Prince Harry. As reported by People. "That poem became this story." As many fans can recall, the couple is also expecting a daughter this summer as well.

The book, illustrated by Christian Robinson, includes watercolor illustrations of a father in a military uniform with his son and a father sitting under a tree with his son, to name a couple.

Markle's goal is to have the book inspire families of all types. "My hope is that 'The Bench' resonates with every family," she explains, "no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine."
