What Do Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies Actually Do?

If you've seen apple cider vinegar gummies all over your social media feed, that's because they're having a serious moment right now. Simply a different form of liquid apple cider vinegar, they share the very same heath benefits, starting with weight loss.

As Dr. Sarah Brewer, medical director at Healthspan, told RTÉ,  "Studies suggest that apple cider vinegar helps weight loss by delaying stomach emptying to suppress appetite, so you feel fuller for longer after consuming it." She then explained, "Apple cider vinegar delays the absorption of glucose, which reduces blood sugar swings that can lead to hunger and snacking." Ultimately, this means apple cider vinegar can also help to regulate your blood sugar levels, something we all need. "Pretty much everyone can benefit from keeping their sugar levels in check," Rebecca Lee, RN and founder of the natural health resource RemediesForMe told POPSUGAR. "Apple cider vinegar increases the efficiency of insulin in breaking down sugar during a high-carb meal."

No wonder apple cider vinegar gummies are so popular!

Research about the health benefits of apple cider vinegar is minimal

While the list of health benefits associated with apple cider vinegar (and apple cider vinegar gummies) seems endless, it's important to note that research into apple cider vinegar isn't that extensive. As Rebecca Ditkoff, a registered dietitian in New York City and founder of Nutrition by RD, told Real Simple, "[o]verall, there has not been a significant amount of research done on the effects of ACV" at all.

Moreover, according to Alice Figueroa, registered dietitian and founder of Alice in Foodieland (via SHAPE), "there's no peer-reviewed research on apple cider vinegar gummies." It's also worth noting that not all apple cider vinegar is created equal, and as a result, the benefits may change depending on what form and brand of apple cider vinegar you decide to buy (via Real Simple).  For example, apple cider vinegar that is unfiltered and contains the mother, is much better for gut health because it contains probiotics.

When it comes to the gummy varieties, as with any supplements, brands and ingredients vary greatly. If you're interested in trying them, do your research by talking to health professionals and other users.
