Meghan Markle May Not Have A Baby Shower. Here's Why

Pregnant Meghan Markle has reportedly decided not to have a baby shower ahead of the birth of her second child. Speaking to Us Weekly, a source explained the Duchess of Sussex's reasoning behind the decision, revealing that she "doesn't feel a big baby shower with gifts is appropriate right now."

"There is too much strife in the world. She and Harry have been so involved with humanitarian issues, they both feel their time and resources can be used for a better purpose," the source continued, adding that throughout her pregnancy, Meghan has enjoyed "the support of her friends" and her husband Prince Harry. "Harry is the ideal partner, taking care of Archie and working to provide for his family," the source concluded.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were expecting their second child in February 2021. Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for the royal couple told People, "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."

Meghan previously hosted a star-studded baby shower

During her first pregnancy with baby Archie — who celebrated his second birthday on May 6 — Meghan Markle hosted a star-studded baby shower event at The Mark hotel in New York City. According to the Evening Standard, Markle's 2019 baby shower celebrations consisted of "five nights of rest, shopping and good food with some of her closest and most loyal pals," including the likes of Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney.

Speaking to Us Weekly back in 2019, a source revealed details of the Duchess' NYC baby shower. "There were cotton candy machines being brought in earlier this morning," the insider revealed. "There were floral arrangements being brought in on a rolling dolly in all the colors of the rainbow. Blue, white, pink and purple hydrangeas, craspedias, yellow and pink roses and many others that are covered up."

Providing further insider details about the celebrations, the source added that Markle decided not to open any presents during the shower "because they would have revealed the baby's gender."
