Everything We Know About The Bridgerton Spinoff

"Bridgerton" fans are eagerly awaiting Season 2 on Netflix. The first season of the show was a huge hit among viewers, who flocked to the streaming service to watch the drama of the Bridgerton family and the London social season unfold, per Deadline. During Season 1, fans were introduced to lead characters Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset aka The Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). The show was adapted from the popular romance book series by Julia Quinn and brought to life by Shonda Rhimes (via Marie Claire). In addition to the modern take on the period drama, the cast also won over hearts with their good looks and smoldering scenes (via Tripzilla).

Not long after its release, Netflix announced that the series had been renewed for season 2. This time around, the series will follow another Bridgerton family member, Anthony, portrayed by actor Jonathan Bailey. Sadly, breakout star Regé-Jean Page revealed that he would not be returning for another season. However, Dynevor has teased her return to the series to interact with her on-screen big brother. "I'd like to see Daphne get involved in Anthony's love life, since he was so involved in hers ... There's no such thing as a happy ending, is there? I think love's always shifting and changing. So who knows? I'd like to see what happens next," the actress previously told Harper's Bazaar. In addition, "Bridgerton" fans have another reason to celebrate as Netflix announced an upcoming spinoff series.

Bridgerton spinoff to follow Queen Charlotte

According to ELLE, Netflix officially announced the "Bridgerton" spinoff series this week. While the original series is all about the Bridgerton siblings as they navigate their love lives and the world, the new show will have a different spin. The prequel series will focus on Queen Charlotte when she was young, and before her marriage to King George III. "All Hail The Queen! Thrilled to announce we're expanding the 'Bridgerton' universe with a limited series that will tell Queen Charlotte's origin story — the series will also feature young Violet Bridgerton and young Lady Danbury," Netflix announced via social media.

Bela Bajaria, head of global TV at Netflix, also spoke out about the project, revealing that big plans are in the works for the entire franchise. "Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I'm thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton. Shonda [Rhimes] and her team are thoughtfully building out the 'Bridgerton' universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled." Currently, there is no official release date for the "Bridgerton" spinoff series about young Queen Charlotte. However, fans will likely be ready to flock to the streaming service upon its debut.
