My 600-Lb Life: Whatever Happened To Joyce Del Viscovo?

"My 600-lb Life" chronicles the incredibly tough journeys of morbidly obese people looking to change their lives by committing to a grueling new diet and exercise program at the end of which they will, hopefully, qualify for all-important weight loss surgery. Spearheaded by surgeon/miracle worker Dr. Now, the process is understandably taxing, but when followed to the letter, it can be incredibly rewarding. Naturally, the long-running show's popularity comes from how life-affirming it is.

Although everybody who darkens Dr. Now's door is looking for help, not all "My 600-lb Life" stars manage to complete his program. Often, there are other underlying issues — such as familial abuse or neglect — that impact their ability to truly push forward. Many people leave the show disappointed and in need of further help. In the case of Joyce Del Viscovo, as "My 600-lb Life" wrapped up, things weren't looking good. Has she changed her tune in the time since or fallen back into old, bad habits?

Joyce Del Viscovo has retreated from the public eye

As The Cinemaholic notes, Joyce Del Viscovo is one of the heaviest people to ever feature on "My 600-lb Life," topping out at 759 lbs. She was also one of the most combative. The Kansas native was a major burden on her loved ones due to her uncontrollable food addiction, which was tied to her parents' divorce. After finding herself unable to work or even leave the house, Del Viscovo headed for Dr. Now's office. However, although she managed to lose 150 lbs. during her time with him, the "My 600-lb Life" star also gained a lot of weight back, leading her to decry the plan as "unfair" and "unreasonable."

Del Viscovo ultimately quit and ended the show weighing in at 623 lbs., having lost a total of 134 lbs. She has remained out of the public eye since her stint, with the former reality star's Facebook page mostly consisting of a random smattering of songs and posts regarding family and friends, as well as opinions on various topical issues. Meanwhile, Del Viscovo hasn't posted any up-to-date photos or progress notes either. Hopefully, she's on the right track to a healthier lifestyle and is simply keeping her journey private, which is certainly Del Viscovo's right after being so open on "My 600-lb Life."
