Lucy Liu Reveals The Treatment That She Uses To Lose Weight And Stay Young

Actress Lucy Liu is actively making moves for a healthier lifestyle. Despite an often intense filming schedule, the "Elementary" star finds ways to incorporate consistent exercise and energy-boosting foods into her diet, per Eat This, Not That. In a 2018 interview with E!, the Emmy-nominated actress (via Emmys) broke down what her day usually looks like. She starts her morning with a 6 a.m. workout and walking her dog. Her exercise of choice is breaking a sweat at Soul Cycle. "It energizes me and helps wake me up in the morning," she explained.

Lucy Liu also added that the intensity of a good workout helps her stay focused when she's on set (via E!). "With all of the lines that I have to memorize, it sort of activates my brain. Obviously, it's not easy to get up, but it's fun to be in a group of people. We all kind of suffer together." The "Star Wars: Visions" actress' intentionality around staying in shape complements her healthy eating practices. Liu's breakfast consists of a balance of fruits and protein, per Pop Sugar, but she also turns to veggie pasta or pizza when she needs more carbs in her diet. But there's one treatment that has changed her entire outlook on dieting and exercise.

Lucy Liu uses this treatment to stay fit and reverse the clock

In an April 2021 interview with Women's Health, Lucy Liu revealed that she regularly sees an acupuncturist, in addition to practicing transcendental meditation. Her philosophy is that it's equally important to work on your inside as well as outside, and strengthen your relationship with your body. This ideal and mindset isn't far off. Healthline lists reduced migraines, hypertension, and chronic pain as the possible benefits of acupuncture.

There are also claims that acupuncture has anti-aging properties. For younger-looking skin, Dr. Tsagaris told Harper's Bazaar that beauty acupuncture is a great alternative to Botox. "The skin is the largest organ in the body," he explained. "External signs of ageing may just be a reflection of an internal problem, such as a hormonal imbalance. Acupuncture is designed to address the cause of the problem as well as the symptoms."

Per Style Caster, Liu also attributes her glowing, flawless complexion and weight loss to acupuncture. "It can help you lose weight, it can help your skin stay young," she explained. The "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" star tried veganism for a year, before switching to vegetarianism at her acupuncturist's recommendation (via Women's Health). She began incorporating more eggs into her diet, which Insider suggests is great for boosting your metabolism.
