The Heartbreaking Death Of YouTube Star Mel Thompson

On September 27, the husband of YouTube star Mel Thompson announced that she had died on Sunday at the young age of 35 years old in a post on her Instagram page. Since 2013, the makeup artist has been growing her audience on YouTube. At the time of her death, Thompson had grown her fanbase to more than 59,000 followers on Instagram and her YouTube channel had over 170,000 subscribers. Thompson was mostly known for her comprehensive makeup product reviews and bubbly personality.

"Mel sadly passed away yesterday," Thompson's husband wrote in the Instagram post. "It's really hard to just choose 10 photos. We lost a beautiful person. I just wanted to show the smiles she brought. I've had to answer so many texts of people just checking in on her without even knowing of her passing. It's great to see how loved she was. And she loved all you right back. I'll continue to love her and miss her forever."

As noted by People, Thompson is survived by her four children and husband. "She was such a pillar for our family," her husband continued in the Instagram post. "The kids would talk to her non stop and she was constantly talking with them and trying to help them with their stuff. And no matter how bad she felt, she would still rub my back when I came and jumped on the bed next to her while she was working tirelessly to put out content."

Mel Thompson will be missed by many

What makes the death of YouTube star Mel Thompson's death especially shocking for many is the fact that she posted her latest video to YouTube only one day prior to her death. At this point, her husband has yet to announce her cause of death.

According to the New York Post, a close friend of Thompson commented on the Instagram post announcing her death, claiming that the YouTuber had suffered from multiple health issues, which included Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The rare syndrome affects the connective tissues in your skin, joints, and blood vessel walls and can cause your skin to be stretchy and fragile and your joints to become dangerously flexible. Those who struggle with a severe form of the disorder can often live with the threat of the walls of their blood vessels, intestines, or uterus rupturing at any moment, according to the Mayo Clinic. It's unlikely that Thompson lived with the more severe form of the disorder, as many are unable to become pregnant without experiencing a number of life-threatening issues, and Thompson has four children.

Since news of her death surfaced on Monday, fans and friends alike have been writing heartfelt tributes about the YouTuber. "She was always lifting other people up and shining her light," TAO + HAWK Jewelry wrote in an Instagram post. "I'm grateful that I was able to know her in this life. I can't stop crying, we lost a good one too soon. Sending my heart to her family and friends during this difficult time."
