Why Prince Charles Might Be Changing His Mind About Gifting This To Harry And Meghan

Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, live in the Clarence House, which was built in the 1820s for Prince William Henry, Duke of Clarence (via royal.uk). It belonged to the Queen Mother from 1953 to 2002, as reported by The Express, and Prince Charles moved in after her death.

The prince also has Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, Birkhall in Scotland, Llwynywermod in Wales, The Castle of Mey and Dumfries House in Scotland, and Dolphin House on the Isles of Scilly, according to Hello! Magazine.

When Prince Charles becomes king, he apparently plans on reducing the living quarters at Buckingham Palace, turning Balmoral into a museum, and moving the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge into Windsor Castle (via The Daily Mail). He had also planned on, at that time, giving the Clarence House to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ... but that may no longer be the case.

The move, the step back, and the tension may have caused a change in plans for the Clarence House

After tying the knot, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage, as stated by Elle Decor. After they moved to the United States, it was unclear what would happen with their Windsor home, but currently, Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, is living there with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their son, August (via The Mirror).

The move and the step back from royal duties also made the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's fate with the Clarence House uncertain.

As stated, Prince Charles' original plan was to gift it to Harry and Meghan. However, according to The Daily Mail, it is "no longer [in] the cards," and the home will "now more likely ... be saved for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis," who are Prince William and Kate Middleton's children.

All the while, Harry and Meghan are living in their $14.7 million home in California, with its nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, library, gym, sauna, home theater, arcade, game room, elevator, playground, rose garden, swimming pool, and tennis court (via loveproperty.com).
