What Has Cody Knapek Been Up To Since Married At First Sight?

We're living in a golden age of dating reality shows, and the wilder the better. From "Sexy Beasts" to "FBoy Island," the options are seemingly endless. However, none truly compares to the insanity of "Married at First Sight," which, as the name suggests, follows couples who get hitched almost immediately after meeting each other for the first time. Unsurprisingly, things don't always go to plan, which makes for plenty of drama. Of the featured couples, Cody Knapek and Danielle DeGroot quickly emerged as fan favorites on the Lifetime hit.

Although the couple was still married when their season wrapped up, DeGroot admitted during the reunion that they weren't exactly in love just yet (via People). She and Knapek frequently fought on "MAFS" about their differing attitudes on marriage and, in the end, they just couldn't make it work. Their split was confirmed in 2017, after just one year of marriage. DeGroot described Knapek as an "amazing" person and confirmed in an Instagram post she had "nothin' but love" for him.

"MAFS" doesn't have a great track record when it comes to couples staying together, but these two seemingly went their separate ways without any hard feelings. So, what has Knapek been up to in the meantime?

Cody Knapek learned a lot from his time on MAFS

"MAFS" alum Cody Knapek is reasonably active on Instagram, regularly posting vacation shots, encouraging words, and evidence of fun outings with friends. His bio lists him simply as a "public figure," noting he's a "Former College Athlete, Former Fat Guy, Proof Nice Guys Don't Finish Last, [and] Most importantly proud American and Christian."

Knapek demonstrably learned a lot from his time on the hit show. The reality star admitted to The Knot that he regrets treating former wife Danielle DeGroot poorly during their honeymoon, even wishing for a "do-over." Knapek acknowledged their "dynamic definitely changed" after he expressed hesitation about moving forward romantically with her. He also referred to "personal growth" in a 2018 birthday post (via Instagram).

When it comes to his career, a LinkedIn page suggests Knapek works — or perhaps previously worked — as a regional sales manager for a marketing and advertising firm in Ohio. The profile doesn't include a photo, so it's difficult to ascertain whether it's actually his, but Knapek's Instagram confirms the "MAFS" star relocated from Chicago to Ohio, so that tracks. Mostly, though, Knapek seems to be happily enjoying a relatively normal life under the radar. He does appear to have a new girlfriend, however, judging by a shot posted in October 2021. The woman in question, Sherene Elsayed, also shared the same image, tagging Knapek and adding the caption "Baby" followed by a heart emoji. It's safe to say Cody Knapek is moving on!
