Jersey Shore Family Vacation Season 5 - Details We Know So Far
"Jersey Shore" was one of the biggest hits of MTV's golden age of reality television, which also gave us "The Hills" and "Laguna Beach." We shouldn't have been shocked when the spinoff "Jersey Shore Family Vacation" — which debuted in 2018, nearly a decade after the original show finished airing — proved to be just as much of a must-watch.
As Billboard noted at the time, the global premiere of "Family Vacation" was the most-watched unscripted cable series launch in six years. Alongside it, #JSFamilyVacation trended on Twitter for an incredible seven hours straight.
That first season of "Family Vacation" united almost all of the original "Jersey Shore" housemates — Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino — for a wild holiday in Miami.
Controversial cast member Angelina Pivarnick joined in Season 2, bringing all the requisite drama in the process (via People). The cast has gone through several shake-ups in the intervening years, thanks to pregnancies, weddings, and, in Sorrentino's case, a jail stint (via NJ.com).
They may be older, but our "Jersey Shore" favorites are still the same wacky personalities we've come to love over the past decade and change. When can we expect to be reunited with them again for Season 5?
When is 'Jersey Shore Family Vacation' expected to return?
Season 4 of "Jersey Shore Family Vacation" finished airing in September 2021, but fans are already clamoring for a fifth go-round. The Futon Critic notes the show is consistently one of MTV's highest performers, frequently nabbing the No. 1 spot across several of its key demographics during the allocated time period. In fact, Season 5 was announced prior to the Season 4 finale even airing.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the roommates were tasked with taking over a resort in rural Pennsylvania where all manner of shenanigans took place. Aside from Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and wife Lauren "Laurens" Pesce revealing their baby's gender, returning guest star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi had to make amends for being a catastrophic drunken mess, while Angelina Pivarnick nearly blinded her own hubby, Chris Larangeira. Suffice to say, a global health crisis didn't dampen the drama.
Although we don't yet know when Season 5 is due to debut, it could show up before 2021 is over, considering that there are only a few months between seasons, per The Cinemaholic. Production has already begun, according to multiple reports.
Is this original cast member returning for Season 5?
All the usual suspects are expected to return for Season 5 of "Jersey Shore Family Vacation" — namely, Angelina Pivarnick, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Paul "Pauly D" Delvecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino, and Deena Nicole Cortese.
However, after bowing out for the previous few seasons and only popping up briefly in Season 4, original cast member Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is slated to make her triumphant return in Season 5. "Get ready for more s*** shows," she quipped on Twitter.
"I'm filming as much as I can," Polizzi told TooFab. "I want to say I'm back fully, but when it comes to trips and stuff like that I'm gonna be 'here and there.' Like I said, I hate leaving my kids, but I'm ready to be back."
Polizzi took a break from the show to focus on her family. "I needed to get myself back together," she said. But, now, she's back and better than ever. "We've been filming a couple of weeks and we're just drinking," she said. "So I brought the party back."
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, meanwhile, who temporarily left "Family Vacation" to deal with his ongoing substance abuse issues, told TMZ that he expects to be back in the fold before Season 5 is finished.
Where is Season 5 of 'Jersey Shore Family Vacation' taking place?
According to CheatSheet, during a recent episode of their "Here's the Sitch" podcast, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and wife Lauren "Laurens" Pesce confirmed that they were traveling again for Season 5 of "Jersey Shore Family Vacation." The Sorrentinos weren't sure where they were headed at the time, they said.
However, Reddit sleuths subsequently deduced that the show may be filming down south. "I'm pretty sure they're filming at the Isla Bella Resort in [the] Florida Keys," one fan shared. In fact, the resort in question had a live feed up until news reports suggested that filming was taking place there. Prior to the feed being taken down, fans claimed to have spotted Vinny Guadagnino and other cast members chilling out around the pool area and private beachfront.
Likewise, one fan noted the similarities between the carpet and bathroom in the hotel and those in a photo shared by Pesce, while the drapes and carpet seemed to match those featured in one of Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's Instagram Stories, too. Regardless of where the next "Family Vacation" takes place, we should expect the craziest trip yet.
