The Most Shocking Plot Twists That Have Ever Happened On The Bold And The Beautiful

Stunning and jaw-dropping plot twists nobody ever saw coming are some of the hallmarks of soap operas, and turns that "The Bold and the Beautiful" stories have taken over the decades have not disappointed. Fans may think they know what's coming, but when something else happens, it's one of those things talked about on Twitter and other social media communities for years to come.

In the case of "The Bold and the Beautiful," fans can even relive some of the most shocking twists from the first full year the soap was on the air from 1987 to 1988, as the soap's official YouTube channel has them in full for free, according to Soap Central. From the frequent shocking fights between Thorne and Ridge over the sweet Caroline to surprising events within the Logan family, it's all there. In the 35 years since "B&B" premiered there have been several standout moments fans will never, ever forget.

Brooke sleeps with daughter Bridget's husband

Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) has some of the same problems in 2022 that she had more than two decades ago. She is attracted to Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), a man who was once married to her eldest daughter, Bridget (then played by Jennifer Finnegan). In fact, if it wasn't for Bridget marrying Deacon and introducing the man to her mother, Brooke wouldn't even have a younger daughter named Hope.

While Bridget and Deacon were still married and having problems, Brooke and Deacon slept together, producing a pregnancy that later became Hope (via Fame 10). While Deacon wasn't around much when Hope (Annika Noelle) was growing up, he is now back in town trying to forge a relationship with his now-adult daughter who has her own children. And Brooke is once again drawn to the man who was once her son-in-law. As for Deacon, he started the new year by telling Brooke he is still in love with her.

Brooke sleeps with daughter Hope's boyfriend

Brooke Logan just can't seem to get it right when it comes to men. She's been married more times than can be counted on both hands — most of those times to Ridge. One night in 2011, though, Brooke gave audiences yet another shocking plot twist. It happened when she was just trying to be a good mother to her teenage daughter, Hope (then played by Kim Matula), by throwing her a masquerade party. Hope had planned to meet with her boyfriend, Oliver (Zack Conroy), for the first time, but something got in the way of that.

Apparently, Hope and Brooke were wearing similar outfits, as were Oliver and Ridge Forrester (then played by Ronn Moss), Brooke's man. Well, a case of mistaken masquerade identity led to Brooke believing Oliver was Ridge and Ridge believing Brooke was Hope, leading Brooke to sleep with her teenage daughter's teenage boyfriend (via Soap Hub). Thankfully, something like that didn't damage Hope and Brooke's mother-daughter relationship for good.

Maya used to be Myron

Maya Avant (Karla Mosley) arrived in town as an ex-con looking for a baby who wasn't really hers and quickly fell for Rick Forrester (Jacob Young), who was involved with Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey) at the time, but felt an attraction to the newcomer. Eventually, Caroline and Rick married, but he still felt a pull towards Maya. After Rick and Caroline finally split, Rick and Maya forged a romantic relationship, but it was eventually revealed that Maya had been born Myron Avant and was transgender.

While Rick was shocked to learn his girlfriend was transgender, they were in love and eventually married after Maya's father, Julius (Obba Babatunde) learned to accept her just before the ceremony got started. While this doesn't seem like it would be a major plot twist today, Mosley took this opportunity in 2015 to "educate ['The Bold & The Beautiful'] viewers here and all over the world" (via Fame 10).

Thomas believes a mannequin is Hope

Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) had been having a rough few years in which he became obsessed with Hope Logan Spencer, despite the fact that she was married to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). When Hope mistakenly believed her baby had died, he convinced Hope to marry him and be a mother to his son, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri). However, when Hope learned that Thomas kept the truth about her baby from her, she returned to Liam after convincing Thomas to make her Douglas' legal mother. (His birth mother, Caroline, had died).

Thomas thought his obsession with Hope was over as he started putting his life back together, but something compelled him to bring a mannequin home from Forrester Creations that looked just like Hope. He even started hearing the mannequin speak to him and ask him to kiss her. Thomas started to believe the mannequin was really Hope and went on dates with her in his apartment until the real Hope found him and convinced him to get help. It turned out a brain injury had Thomas believing things that just weren't real (via Soaps In Depth).
