The Heartbreaking Death Of YouTuber Melanie Ham

The crafting community has suffered a major loss. YouTuber Melanie Ham, whose popular sewing and crochet tutorials garnered over 71 million combined views, died from cancer-related complications on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, reports the New York Post. She was 36.

Ham's husband Robert announced her death in an Instagram post on her page. "It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness I share the news of the passing of my sweet, amazing, beautiful wife Melanie," his heartbreaking tribute started off. "If you've been following our journey I'm sure you were, like us, hopeful she could defeat this insidious disease. Over the past few months things have been progressively getting worse and we're thankful that we made it to this point through the holidays and tried to make every moment count."

After addressing Melanie's health complications, Robert sadly shared that she died a few days before their 16th anniversary and "fought like a warrior queen."

Her crafting content brought in 811K YouTube subscribers, and her sincere posts on her personal life also made fans feel connected to her. In addition to her crafting videos, Ham often used her platform to share her cancer prognosis. Insider reports that she regularly gave honest health updates on living with Epithelioid Angiomyolipoma, a rare type of cancer that affects soft tissues in the body.

Fans shared their condolences in the comments section on her husband's Instagram tribute post. One user reflected on her immense impact on the crafting community, writing "I never met her, but I loved her. She touched my life with her beautiful crafts.
