Where Christine And Kody Brown's Relationship Stands Today

Although "Sister Wives" fans have been criticizing patriarch Kody Brown's attitude to his plural marriage for years, when Christine Brown announced their split it was still a massive shock all round. In a short Instagram post, Christine shared that the couple had simply "grown apart" after nearly three decades together. She noted, "We will continue to be a strong presence in each other's lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family."

As Us Weekly notes, the couple got married in 1994 and shares six children. When they wed, Kody had already been legally married to Meri Brown since 1990 and was also in a spiritual marriage with Janelle Brown as of 1993. Kody subsequently legally divorced Meri so he could marry fourth, and presumed favorite, wife Robyn Brown, in 2014 (he and Meri remain spiritually bonded). Shortly after announcing their split, Christine admitted in a Cameo message to a fan "the decision was a long time coming." The reality star also confirmed she felt "much better" single.

In his own statement, Kody confirmed it was "Christine's decision to leave" and that he wasn't happy about it. However, the father of 18 also noted, "Although we are moving forward on different paths, we will always remain committed parents." So, where does the former couple stand nowadays?

Kody Brown took issue with how Christine handled the split

Per Us Weekly, in her Cameo video, Christine Brown reiterated that she and former partner Kody Brown would continue to have a relationship due to co-parenting their children. As the reality star explained, "We have to just be good and amiable and things like that. I think it's just important to remember that." However, a source subsequently confirmed to Us that the situation was slightly more complicated.

Christine has no regrets about leaving Kody, and "will never go back" according to the insider, who shared, "It's a new chapter for her and she's excited to see what the future holds." Moreover, the "Sister Wives" star feels "very empowered" by the decision. However, Kody isn't in the same frame of mind and even takes offense to how happy Christine seems to be without him. According to the source, "They're not on good terms right now because of her decision to leave him."

Thankfully, Christine knows he'll eventually have to get over it if they're going to co-parent the kids. She claimed in the Cameo video the two were still communicating, but it seems things have soured since. As Screen Rant points out, Christine's issues with Kody date back to when he was courting Robyn Brown while Christine was pregnant. He also consistently ignored Christine's wishes to move back to Utah.

In fact, during the Season 15 finale, Christine admitted to Meri Brown that she couldn't take being married to Kody anymore.
