Why Raven-Symoné And Her Entire Cast Walked Off Set

Raven-Symoné stunning transformation has been displayed on television since she was little (via Notable Biographies). She got her start in the industry early in life, landing a modeling contract by age 2. She would go on to wow viewers with her performance as Olivia Kendall on "The Cosby Show."

As she got older, Raven remained in the spotlight. Her next big role came as the eponymous character on Disney's "That's So Raven," a role that would be one of her personal favorites, too (via Today). Speaking about the show, Raven shared, "I think 'That's So Raven' taught kids, when they're at that stage of middle school right into high school, that it's OK to be yourself." She continued, "It's OK to have fun with your friends, but it's most important to be loving, empathetic and be there for one another."

She would go on to have other positions throughout the vast entertainment industry, including a short run as a co-host on "The View," leading some to wonder just how much Raven-Symoné is worth. However, in the middle of filming her latest show, "Raven's Home," Raven and the rest of the cast organized a walkout for a good cause.

Raven walked off set in support of the LGBTQ+ community

Raven-Symoné came out as gay a few years ago, but had battled with her sexuality for a long time (via Variety). While she chooses to speak out now about her sexuality in hopes of helping young fans who may be dealing with their own internal battles, she struggled with accepting herself until she was in her 20s.

"While it was a selfish thing for me to keep my secret to myself for as long as I did, I am very happy that I'm out, if only to help someone else feel comfortable," she told Variety, adding, "It is about that one person who you'll never see or meet who watches the show and feels that confidence to just say, 'Hey, guess what? I'm gay. And if you can't accept me, it's okay, because I see Raven pushing through.' That feels good. It's a hard journey, though. It's difficult."

Now, Raven took a stand for LGBTQ+ youth by walking off the set of her Disney Channel spinoff series, "Raven's Home," to protest Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill (via People). She then took to Instagram with a post captioned, "In support of our LGBTQ+ family and all of those who will be damaged by the 'Don't Say Gay' bill we the cast of 'Raven's Home' are walking out."

"In today's world, it is imperative that we take stands, show support, and move forward not backward," she continued. Ultimately, actions of substance are the only ways society progresses, so this may be a step toward equity.
