The Bold And The Beautiful Relationship Timeline: Brooke And Ridge

As "The Bold and the Beautiful" turns 35, there has been one constant in all the years that the CBS soap has been on the air: Brooke and Ridge, known as "Bridge" to fans.

As of this writing, the "Bridge" is broken once again, but it seems to repair itself every few months or years, as it's been doing since 1987 from the first time college student Brooke Logan laid her eyes on fashion house heir and playboy Ridge Forrester.

Brooke has had two Ridges in her life over the years. Ronn Moss played Ridge for the first 25 years that the character was in Brooke's life, from 1987 to 2012, and Thorsten Kaye took over for Moss after he left the soap. Katherine Kelly Lang has been the only Brooke through the years and was rewarded with her own special episode as the soap celebrated its anniversary, according to TV Insider

But how did it all really begin for Brooke and Ridge, and why did it go wrong so many times? Here's their complete relationship timeline.

Brooke and Ridge meet at a party, but he loves someone else

Brooke Logan was a young woman from The Valley, trying to get somewhere in life by studying chemistry at college by day and working as a server for a catering service by night to make ends meet. When she served Eric Forrester (John McCook) and his son, Ridge Forrester, her life changed forever (via Soaps In Depth).

Brooke was immediately attracted to Ridge and him to her, but he was engaged to the sweet Caroline Spencer (Joanna Johnson). That didn't stop Brooke. Caroline learned that Ridge cheated on her with a model and broke things off, and Brooke was there to pick up the pieces.

Brooke got Ridge into bed, became pregnant, miscarried the baby, and was crushed when Caroline took Ridge back. However, that didn't last long. Tragically, Caroline died from cancer and made Brooke promise to look after Ridge when she was gone. Brooke was all for that, but she was also with someone else by then (via Soaps.com).

Brooke marries Ridge's father, Eric

When Ridge rejected Brooke and married Caroline, Brooke assumed it was over for good and found comfort with Ridge's father, Eric Forrester, who was enamored by the ambitious young woman. He left his longtime wife, Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery), for her, setting up an epic soap rivalry that lasted decades.

Eric married Brooke after she became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son, Eric Jr., who was called Rick. However, the marriage didn't work out, and Brooke wanted Ridge once again. However, he had already fallen for psychiatrist Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo) and planned to marry her — after his one-night stand with Brooke (via Soaps In Depth).

On the day of Ridge and Taylor's wedding, Brooke interrupted the nuptials to announce that she was pregnant with Ridge's child. She didn't mention that the baby could possibly be Eric's. Taylor and Ridge married anyway, and Brooke eventually gave birth to a little girl she named Bridget, with Ridge believed to be her father. (Years later, Eric learned he fathered the girl, according to Soaps In Depth.)

After Taylor was presumed dead in a plane crash, Brooke and Ridge finally wed, but that marriage was short-lived because Taylor was alive after all. That began Ridge's back and forth between Taylor and Brooke, which would last decades.

Taylor and Ridge reunite, and Brooke tries to move on

After Taylor turned up alive and well, Ridge eventually went back to her, and they started a family, with Taylor first giving Ridge a son, Thomas, and then two little girls, twins Phoebe and Steffy. Taylor and Ridge seemed happy for years, and Brooke had affairs with various men while marrying and divorcing a few of them.

Then, crazy Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) shot both Brooke and Taylor in one shocking incident. While Brooke survived and recovered, it appeared as if Taylor did not, and she was presumed dead once again.

By then, Brooke was caught between Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) and Ridge. Nick turned out to be Ridge's half-brother because it seemed he wasn't Eric's biological son after all. Massimo Marone was his real father, but he still thinks of Eric as his dad to this day.

As Brooke went back and forth between the brothers for a while, Ridge finally won out, and the pair wed again. They even had a son named RJ, but it took a while before they could confirm that Ridge was his father and not Nick (via Soaps.com).

Taylor returns from the dead again, and Ridge waffles

When it turned out that Taylor was alive, Ridge wasn't sure what he should do, so he listened to his mother. Stephanie faked a heart attack and told her son that her dying wish was for him to be with Taylor, so Ridge dumped Brooke — but only temporarily.

When he learned the heart attack was all a ruse, he went back to Brooke, but, of course, it didn't last long. Ridge spent some time going back and forth between Brooke and Taylor, as he had done for years, but he eventually got sick of Brooke's bevy of secrets and left Los Angeles, supposedly for good in 2012.

In 2013, when Ridge returned, he had a new face and was being played by Thorsten Kaye. Ridge wanted Brooke back, but she had moved on, so Ridge moved on as well — with Brooke's sister, Katie Logan (Heather Tom).

When that didn't work out, Ridge moved on with the young and beautiful Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey), the niece of the original Caroline Ridge he had married decades before. Brooke and Katie then rivaled over Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), but, in the end, it looked like Ridge would win out.

Brooke and Ridge marry again, but some things never change

In 2018, it looked all clear for Brooke and Ridge to tie the knot one more time, and, this time, it looked like it would last. They took their vows in the Forrester living room with Stephanie's portrait looking over them, according to Soap Hub. Ridge's mother had died from cancer in 2012 and made amends with Brooke.

With what seemed like a blessing from the beyond, Brooke and Ridge were thrilled to try again, but there were troubles. One came in the form of their children. Ridge's son Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) became obsessed with Brooke's daughter Hope (Annika Noelle) from her affair with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan).

With Ridge defending Thomas and Brooke defending Hope, things didn't look good. However, once they resolved to leave their adult kids out of their marriage, they decided to renew their vows in 2020.

But Brooke did an oops (as Brooke often does) and kissed Bill Spencer the night before. Eric's new wife, Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer), revealed Brooke's indiscretion, and Ridge was furious.

Brooke and Ridge try one more time

When Ridge learned that Brooke kissed Bill, he flew off to Vegas with Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards) in early 2020 and returned believing he got a quickie divorce from Brooke and was wed to Shauna. None of that turned out to be true, and Brooke and Ridge were still legally married.

When Ridge learned he had been tricked, he and Brooke finally renewed their vows and seemed happy until 2021, when Brooke's ex, Deacon, returned to town. Deacon claimed he was still in love with Brooke, and Ridge wanted him gone. However, Hope wanted to get to know her father better, and Brooke took her side.

That led to Brooke and Ridge arguing again just as Taylor (now played by Krista Allen) popped back into town to tell Ridge she never stopped loving him. Sheila Carter was also back and decided she liked Taylor and hated Brooke, so she made sure that Brooke, an alcoholic, drank real champagne on New Year's Eve, which led Brooke to kiss Deacon when Ridge was out of town.

When Ridge learned what happened, he left Brooke and nearly slept with Taylor, but she put the brakes on things. And that's where the "Bridge" saga stands, as of this writing, with Brooke and Ridge longing for each other but wondering if it's finally over for good.
