Britney Spears Gets Candid About Her Motherhood Fears

After close to 14 years of hardship, Britney Spears's conservatorship finally came to an end in November 2021. As The Guardian reported at the time, the pop star's life had been under the control of her father, Jamie Spears, for over over a decade after her well-publicized mental health issues emerged in 2007. Jamie controlled everything about his daughter's life, from her considerable fortune, to her work schedule, and even who Britney was allowed to spend time with. Fans all over the world celebrated the news that the hitmaker was finally freed, after her years of struggle in court. Jamie, meanwhile, still thinks he should be praised for protecting Britney

One of the most shocking revelations to emerge during the complex conservatorship trial was the fact that Britney had been forced to keep an IUD, despite desperately wanting to have another child. "This so-called team won't let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don't want me to have any more children," the popstar asserted during an emotional testimony, per CNN. Naturally, when Britney was finally freed, one of the first thing she did was to head straight to the doctor. And fans were delighted when the "Crazy" singer revealed on Instagram that she's expecting another baby, as of April 12. Now, Britney is opening up about the reality of being pregnant for the third time in the glare of the public eye.

Britney Spears is concerned about being judged again

As the Irish Mirror confirms, Britney Spears has two sons from her previous marriage to Kevin Federline: Sean Preston, whom the couple welcomed in 2005, and Jayden, who arrived the following year. Taking to Instagram in April, the popstar confirmed she was pregnant, admitting it came as a complete surprise to her and fiancé Sam Asghari (at first, Spears assumed it was a food baby). Spears also expressed a desire not to share every detail of her journey publicly, since dealing with intense paparazzi intrusion took a serious toll on her the last time around.

In a follow-up post, Spears shared that she's terrified of becoming a mother again in case she messes something up. The pop icon had a difficult time growing up, because her own mother instilled in her the importance of instinct above all else. This led Spears to treat her children at home when, looking back, she probably should've brought them to the doctor. Regardless of how hard she was trying, the singer was vilified in the press for supposedly being a terrible mom when, as she put it on Instagram, "I was a baby raising 2 babies." After all, there were tons of awkward Spears moments that were caught on camera for the world to see. Thankfully, the singer now trusts she'll know what to do when the time comes, reasoning she just needs to be herself and listen to her gut rather than overthinking everything.
