The Truth About Miley Cyrus' Haunted House

Before Miley Cyrus transformed into the superstar she is today, she lived a relatively normal childhood on her family's farm near Nashville, Tennessee (via Biography). While her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was a big name at the time, he raised his daughter and her siblings primarily out of the limelight.

That was until Cyrus became interested in acting, eventually appearing on her father's show "Doc" and landing a role in Tim Burton's "Big Fish" at the age of 8 (via Elle). Eventually, the Cyrus clan moved to Los Angeles after Miley successfully auditioned for the Disney Channel show "Hannah Montana."

Since then, the singer has stayed in California. First, she lived in Toluca Lake with her family before moving out to her first solo home in Studio City, according to Love Property. She's also owned houses in Hidden Hills and Malibu and her home state of Tennessee.

Cyrus has also had a dozen homes-away-from-home while on tour, renting properties when she needed a base of operations (via Elle UK). While most were nothing out of the ordinary, there was one place in particular that the singer will never forget.

Miley Cyrus rented a haunted apartment in London

During a European tour, Miley Cyrus rented out a London apartment (via Metro) that was an easy destination to return to when she had shows in countries nearby, like Ireland or France. It was situated directly opposite famed department store Harrods and was the perfect base for the "Angels Like You" singer.

But things soon started to go bump in the night, which eventually led to Cyrus moving out of the property altogether.

"It was seriously so terrifying," Cyrus told Elle UK in 2013. She found out that the apartment, situated on Montpelier Street in Knightsbridge, used to be the home of an old bakery run by a father and son.

Cyrus believes that she saw the son on multiple occasions, having described seeing a little boy sitting on the sink while she was in the shower. However, it wasn't until her younger sister also had a frightening experience in the bathroom that she put two and two together.

Other family members experienced something spooky

After the star had a few nights of "really crazy dreams and really scary things" happening at the apartment, Miley Cyrus heard her sister, Noah Cyrus, scream while she was in the shower there one night.

"I run in there and the water had somehow flipped to hot," Miley told Elle UK. "It wasn't like the water had just changed, the knob had turned but she hadn't turned it and it was burning her." During this experience, Miley thought she saw the little boy on the sink again.

Their mom was skeptical at first, but, after their aunt returned to the apartment to find all the windows and doors open — despite her leaving them closed and locking the door behind her — they promptly moved to the Soho Hotel.

"I will never stay there ever again," Miley said, citing how her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, and her mom also saw something out of the ordinary. "We all had these crazy experiences and it was terrifying."

Eventually, Miley discovered the actual history of the place and came to the conclusion that the little boy she was seeing was actually the son that lived in the bakery with his dad. "[When] the dad died ... the son took over the bakery, and I thought I was seeing the son," she said. "I'm not even kidding."
