Sophie Turner Reveals How Motherhood Has Impacted Her Acting

Sophie Turner typically keeps her relationship with Joe Jonas under wraps, but every now and then the couple gives us a small insight into their sweet home life together. As People reported, Turner gushed in an Instagram Story, "I'm so grateful to the two loves of my life for making me a mama. @JoeJonas and my beautiful baby girl." The "Game of Thrones" star added, "It's my favorite job I've ever had." Aside from being papped out and about, Turner mostly kept her pregnancy private too. In fact, fans were delighted when the actor shared a throwback photo of her with a massive bump on Instagram since they saw so little of it.

At the time, neither party publicly announced they were even expecting, despite several outlets reporting the happy news. Their representatives confirmed the birth of daughter Willa in a short statement to TMZ, noting simply, "Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby." A source then told Entertainment Tonight, "The couple is already obsessed and can't stop gloating about their new addition," noting they were "taking time to enjoy this special moment and have only shared the news and updates with family and friends." Otherwise, details were scarce, with the couple keeping things strictly private.

However, Turner has surprisingly just opened up about the impact becoming a mother has had on her acting career.

Sophie Turner's emotions are right at the surface

Becoming a mother has made Sophie Turner a stronger actor. According to People, during a recent appearance on the "UnWrapped" podcast, Turner, who's most well-known for her role as Sansa Stark in "Game of Thrones," shared that she has a whole new perspective on her work after welcoming daughter Willa in July 2020. "The concept of family has made me an entirely much more emotional person," Turner explained. She's able to tap into her feelings and emotions much easier now, because everything is so much closer to the surface.

As a result Turner, who stars in the upcoming HBO series "The Staircase," also feels like she's a better performer overall. "The only way to become a really brilliant actor is to experience as much life as possible and to bring those experiences in, and so this is just another little part of life that I'm experiencing that I get to bring in and hopefully it helps my performance one way or another," she enthused.

Turner and husband Joe Jonas shared exciting family news in April 2022, with several outlets confirming the happy couple are expecting again. The "Game of Thrones" star was spotted sporting a considerable baby bump, as Page Six noted, but they're mostly keeping to themselves, as is their wont (the couple famously eloped in 2019). We'll have to wait and see whether having a second child helps Turner tap even further into her acting potential.
