Emma Heming's Throwback Video Of Bruce Willis Is Really Melting Hearts

Bruce Willis's family announced devastating health news about the actor in March 2022, confirming in a joint statement shared to his daughter, Rumer Willis's, Instagram account that the "Die Hard" star would be retiring from acting effective immediately. They explained how Willis had been "experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities." Sadly, "As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him." The family described it as an incredibly difficult time for them, and thanked everybody who had reached out to offer their love and support.

They noted, "We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him." Mayo Clinic notes, "aphasia typically occurs suddenly after a stroke or a head injury," but it can also be caused by a brain tumor or a degenerative disease. A source close to the family subsequently told People they're spending as much time together as possible, confirming Willis's wife, Emma Heming Willis, "is especially grateful for the daughters she shares with Bruce." Crucially, "Everyone is focused on all the happy moments they are able to share." They're trying to support the actor as much as possible, but it's obviously hard.

Now, a throwback of the star in happier times is understandably making fans well up.

The greatest role of Bruce Willis's career is being a dad

Emma Heming Willis took to Instagram to share a throwback video of her youngest daughter, Evelyn Penn, in honor of her birthday. "The baby of our family is turning 8 tomorrow and I can't believe it. You know what I'm gonna say.... it goes by so fast!" she captioned the sweet footage, which shows her doting dad, Bruce Willis, holding the little girl on his shoulders as he rocks back and forth, much to her evident delight as Evelyn has a massive smile on her face.

Fans gushed over the clip in the comments, with one writing, "Don't know who's cuter, Bruce or baby girl!" while another noted simply, "Oh my heart!!!" Willis became a father for the fifth time at the age of 59, per The Independent. He and Heming Willis are also parents to Mabel Rae, who was born in 2013. Elsewhere, Willis shares three grown-up children with ex-wife Demi Moore.

Although he's getting on a bit, the "Die Hard" star may not be done expanding his family just yet, for one very important reason. In a 2020 interview with People, Willis expressed his desire to have a son someday. However, he made it clear that being a girl's dad rules, opining, "In general, I think women should be in charge of everything. They should be running the country." Willis added, "Women are just much smarter than men."
