Valerie Bertinelli Takes A Huge Step In Her Personal Life

Valerie Bertinelli has had a painful couple of years. The actress has lost some people close to her, such as her former "Hot in Cleveland" co-star Betty White, who died on Dec 31, 2021, just a few days shy of her milestone 100th birthday (via Entertainment Tonight). "I loved Ed more than I know how to explain," Bertinelli told People Magazine after the rocker's death. The actress also wrote about her love for Van Halen in her recently released memoir. "'I love you' are the last words Ed says to [their son] Wolfie and me, and they are the last words we say to him before he stops breathing."

Bertinelli has been open about the loss of loved ones over the years, as well as many other issues that she's dealt with in her life. Most recently, the former "One Day At A Time" star decided to make a huge move in her personal life by ending her marriage with Tom Vitale.

Valerie Bertinelli is officially ready to end her marriage to Tom Vitale

Valerie Bertinelli met financial planner Tom Vitale in 2004 through the actress' brother, Patrick, per Us Weekly. The couple went on to date for six years before he popped the question to her. "I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him 'my husband'," the actress told People Magazine after the couple's 2011 wedding. "I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love."

In November 2021, Bertinelli stunned her fans when she filed for a legal separation from her husband after 10 years of marriage. The "Touched By An Angel" star cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the separation. Six months later, in May 2022, Bertinelli took the next step to legally end her marriage when she officially filed for divorce from Vitale. The couple reportedly have a premarital agreement that they will both honor amid their split.

This will mark the second divorce for Bertinelli, who divorced her first husband, Eddie Van Halen, in 2007 after 26 years of marriage. The two remained close and co-parented their son, Wolfgang, now 31, until Van Halen's death in 2020.

It seems that it may be time for Bertinelli to start a new chapter of her life after a difficult time in her life, and her fans are surely rooting for her happiness.
