Here's What Kate Middleton Had To Say About Taking Over Princess Diana's Royal Title

For many royal family fans, there will never be a more special princess than Princess Diana. Known by the nickname "the people's princess," Diana was loved around the world for her charity work and her ability to connect with the public (via the Indian Express). She was kind, inviting, and down to earth, making her appear more like a regular person than a real-life princess.

Years after Diana's tragic death, pop culture has remained obsessed with the princess (per BuzzFeed News). Netflix's hit series, "The Crown," portrayed Diana so well that the actress behind the role, Emma Corin, won a Golden Globe Award. "Spencer,"  starring Kristen Stewart as Diana, was also met with critical acclaim. No matter how much time has passed, the public is still enamored with the late royal.

Now, a new member of the family is ready to take on the title once held by Diana, and she is weighing in on how she feels about filling the shoes of one of the most historically beloved members of the royal family.

Middleton feels prepared for the role of Princess of Wales

Princess Diana's official title in the royal family was Princess of Wales, as she tied the knot with the Prince of Wales, Charles (via Express). Though filling in the title after Diana held it will be difficult, one member of the royal family will take it on once Queen Elizabeth II passes away. That is Kate Middleton, Princess Diana's daughter-in-law.

Kate, the wife of Diana and Prince Charles' eldest son, William, will take on the role of Princess of Wales when her father-in-law is promoted to king following the death of Queen Elizabeth, and her husband becomes Prince of Wales.

While it will be difficult to try to fill the shoes Princess Diana left behind, royal fans have faith in Kate. One told her during the queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, "You're going to make a brilliant Princess of Wales," to which she responded, "That's very kind. I'm in good hands," gesturing to her husband, William, who was standing next to her (per Page Six).

There will never be another Princess Diana, but it seems fans are more than comfortable with Kate being the next Princess of Wales and that she is more than ready for the role.

Queen Elizabeth supports William and Kate moving up in the family

Kate Middleton will be next in line to fill the role Princess Diana once held. Fans of the royal family shouldn't feel concerned over Kate's future position, as Queen Elizabeth II herself has confidence in her ability to serve alongside the family.

Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, gushed to OK! about how much the queen adores the relationship shared between Prince William and Kate. "The thing about Kate is the queen was impressed she adored and loved William for himself, not for his title." He added, "She spends a lot more time supporting and nurturing the relationship between William and Catherine than she did with Charles and Diana. It's pretty clear she wasn't going to make that mistake again."

Elizabeth reportedly adores Kate, but she once felt the same about Diana, too. According to Tatler, the queen was vocal about her appreciation and acceptance of Diana early in her and Prince Charles's relationship, much like how she feels about Kate and William today. However, things changed with time, but it seems that the queen is confident in Kate's ability to take on such a major role in the family.

Many royal family fans see Diana in Kate

Taking over the role once held by Princess Diana, known best by her moniker, "the people's princess," might be a tough task, but Kate Middleton is up to the challenge.

According to body language expert Darren Stanton, Kate has paid tribute to Diana the best of any other royal family member. Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, he said, "Kate has a very quiet confidence and elegance in the way she conducts herself straight from the outset. Her walk is confident and bold — we can tell this by Kate walking with strong arms by her side. She's not clutching her hands or holding her arms." Stanton added, "She shows a genuine willingness to learn about others that cannot be faked, much like Diana did — what you see is very much what you get with Kate."

Kate has often paid tribute to her late mother-in-law in what she wears, making two nods to the late princess in her looks at the Trooping the Colour event during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations (via Glamour). It seems Kate takes inspiration from Diana in the way she acts with the public, as well as how she dresses. She is well prepared to fill such prestigious shoes.
