As the world turns, the more Tik Tok trends we all try to keep up with. From viral dance choreography to silly sounds, whether you love them or hate them, TikTok trends are here to stay.

That being said, the popular Gen-Z affiliated app's trends can last up to months, leaving you susceptible to randomly bursting out into a popular song or sound from the platform. However, trends that circulate aren't just catchy tunes or lip-synching — trends can also derive from a must-have product or practice that can make your life easier, and who doesn't want that?

TikTok is also a hub for beauty hacks from both professionals and hair and makeup aficionados alike, and one hair trick that has had fans of the social media app talking for years is a heatless headband for curly and/or wavy hair. When you combine no-heat and an affordable price for luscious waves, who can say no? We've done our research, and we're here to tell you if you should take a chance on the non-traditional way to transform dull, boring hair to suddenly having voluminous body overnight.

The heatless curling headband is worth the try

It's common knowledge that while using heat to style your hair, it can cause breakage which is enjoyable for no one. That's why when TikTok creators started trying out the now-trendy heatless curling headband, it caught on like wildfire amongst users. In theory, wouldn't we just love to throw away our curling irons and flat irons for a more hair-healthy option that we can sleep in and still have that bouncy texture? Compared to other heatless curling methods like Velcro rollers or sleeping in braids for a more natural crimp, it seems that the heatless curling headband takes the cake.

In 2020, Glamour staff members with different hair styles and textures reviewed the trend, and the majority of the results were positive. "I kept it in overnight; in the morning, I woke up to the bounciest curls of my life," Glamour's Deputy Editor Anna Moesleine wrote.

It's important to note, though, that this curling method should be used in tandem with a texturizing spray or hairspray to make the curls stay past the morning after taking the headband out.

Once you've secured your headband, here's how to maximize the effects of this viral trend.

Here's how to get no-heat curly look

There are a variety of methods on how you can achieve a beachy, blowout heatless curls look. We'll take you through the actual headband product, which can be purchased on sites like Amazon and Walmart

Stylecaster recommends using the heatless headband first by wrapping your hair into two pigtails with the product starting at the root of your scalp. You'll want to twist the two sections of your hair starting from top to bottom until the entirety of your hair is wrapped up. The publication says that if your hair easily holds curls, there's no need for product (but if you have fine, straight hair, hairspray or sea salt spray will be your BFF!).

This works best with damp hair, or, as one writer from Mashable tried it, drying your hair after washing and then using mousse and/or hair oil before wrapping, as this can also get the job done. You don't have to sleep in the headband, but chances are the more time the headband holds and forms those curls, the more volume you'll get (and remember, you don't want your hair to be damp when you take out the headband, either).

Once you've woken up and unwrapped the headband, you're free to use a blowdryer to have a more Cindy Crawford blowout effect, or run your fingers through for a more low-maintenance curl. And voilà! Who doesn't love a salon look for less?
