Meghan Markle Makes An Unfiltered Remark About Prince Harry's View On Roe V. Wade

Roe v. Wade was a court decision that protected a woman's right to an abortion in the United States — until last week. On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court voted to overturn the landmark ruling, leaving states to decide whether to permit or ban abortions within their borders.

The news sent shockwaves throughout the country and the world. Some celebrated the rollback, such as Donald Trump, who credited himself for what he called "the biggest WIN for LIFE in a generation," per a statement.

But the voices of the disappointed have also been loud and clear. Rallies and protests have popped up all over the country, and organizations like the ACLU have announced plans to sue states that ban abortion access (per NBC News).

Celebrities, too, have used their platforms to speak out against the overturning of Roe v. Wade. USA Today lists several stars who publicly blasted the Supreme Court decision, including Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, and Hailey Bieber.

Meghan Markle is another big name who recently spoke out. The Duchess of Sussex was in conversation with women's rights champion Gloria Steinem, moderated by Jessica Yellin for Vogue, after the overturning, and she shared her views — as well as a bold remark on what Prince Harry thinks about Roe v. Wade.

Meghan Markle says Prince Harry is devastated by the overturning of Roe v. Wade

In their conversation with Vogue, Meghan Markle and Gloria Steinem had a vigilant yet hopeful approach to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. "What does this tell women? It tells us that our physical safety doesn't matter, and as a result that we don't matter. But we do. Women matter," Markle explained.

While women, particularly Black women, are most impacted by the Roe v. Wade ruling, they certainly aren't the only ones involved, according to Markle. The Duchess of Sussex and Steinem agreed that men must play a role in protecting women's rights.

Markle then went on to say that the consequences of the ruling "impact all of us" and that she and Prince Harry "talked about [this impact] a lot over the past few days. He's a feminist too." She noted that he was just as devastated as she was about the recent news.

This isn't the first time we've heard about Harry's feminist stance. The Independent reported that Harry publicly declared himself a feminist in 2019 while working with the organization Tomorrow's Women alongside Markle.
