Ethan Plath Throws Shade At His Mom Kim Plath Amid Her Divorce Drama
TLC's hit reality show, "Welcome to Plathville," is undergoing a few changes. It was recently announced that the Plath parents, Kim and Barry, are ending their marriage. They exclusively told People, "After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage." They continued, "While this was not an easy decision, we know it's the best choice for both of us. We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children."
The Plath family has faced backlash for their tight hold over their children due to their strict Christian Fundamentalist beliefs (via Screen Rant). While some of the older kids have strayed away from the religion, Kim and Barry still seem to hold it near and dear to their hearts, even through their divorce — which is typically unheard of in their religion
Recently, one of the Plath kids — who has left the religion — threw a little bit of shade at his mother.
Ethan hinted at drama with his mom in an Instagram video
Ethan Plath and his wife, Olivia Plath, were the first of the kids to explore life outside of the Plath's family's strict religious beliefs (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet). Olivia — who had a similarly religious upbringing — shared, "I'm looking around me and thinking, 'All of these people have the exact same lives, and they all believe the exact same thing,'" adding, "I wanted to express myself differently."
Her husband Ethan is in the same boat, as the couple has made a more independent life for themselves. So much so, in fact, that he threw some shade at his mom, Kim Plath, regarding the season of "Welcome to Plathville" that is currently airing on TLC.
In a video on Instagram, Ethan said, "I heard you guys like watching the show, and I hope you continue to enjoy watching it this next season. Yeah, just hopefully the parts that are irritating don't irritate you too much," he said. He then called out Kim specifically, stating, "And the parts that are funny make up for the irritating parts.... kinda talking about my mom right here. Just whatever. Enjoy it."
Ethan also hinted that there will be some drama to come during this season of "Welcome to Plathville," which by the way he was talking about it, seems to be between him and Kim.
