Days Of Our Lives Famous Feuds: Kate And Vivian
"Days of Our Lives" fans know that the NBC soap opera never lacks in the drama department. There are often wild storylines, shocking plot twists, and some epic love stories that melt hearts for fans to enjoy. Of course, viewers also love the rivalries that have brewed over the decades (via Fame 10).
There have been some iconic fights, and many characters have a long history of bad blood with one another. Take Kristen DiMera (Eileen Davidson, Stacy Haiduk) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), for example; they battled over their love for John Black (Drake Hogestyn), per Soaps in Depth.
Another unforgettable feud brewed between Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), per Soaps. The two women have fallen in love with the same men, including the likes of Lucas Horton and EJ DiMera. They have also fallen in love with each other's brothers; Sami once married Nicole's brother Brandon Walker, and Nicole walked down the aisle with Sami's twin Eric Brady. They've sabotaged each other too many times to count.
Jennifer Horton and Eve Donovan have battled many times over the years. They fought over Jennifer's husband, Jack Deveraux, and were conflicted when Eve crossed the line by having an affair with Jennifer's son, JJ Deveraux.
However, one of the longest and most epic feuds in "Days of Our Lives" history has been between Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) and Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel).
Kate Roberts and Vivian Alamain's rivalry started over their mutual love for Victor Kiriakis
Like most great soap opera feuds, the bad blood between Kate Roberts and Vivian Alamain started with a love triangle. "Days of Our Lives" fans watched Vivian arrive in Salem in 1992 to take over her family business. She soon met and fell in love with Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston). The power couple tied the knot, and Vivian was very invested in the marriage. However, Victor had other ideas. Upon meeting Kate Roberts, he couldn't resist her charms (via Soaps in Depth).
Victor eventually decided to divorce Vivian and move on with Kate. Victor and Kate began a romance, and he later popped the question, which Kate accepted, much to Vivian's heartbreak. However, Vivian vowed to get revenge on Kate for stealing her man.
In 1994, when Victor and Kate were having trouble conceiving a child, Vivian stole their embryo and had it implanted into her own body. She then became pregnant with the couple's son, Philip Kiriakis, and gave birth to the baby. In doing so, she stole that joy away from Kate, per Soap Central. Months later, Vivian crashed Kate and Victor's wedding rehearsal and tricked Victor into marrying her.
Of course, Vivian and Kate's feud only escalated from that point.
Vivian Alamain tried to kill Kate Roberts multiple times
In 1995, "Days of Our Lives" fans were shocked when Vivian Alamain arranged for Kate Roberts to travel overseas for business and then sabotaged her airplane (via Soaps). Vivian poisoned the pilot and ensured that the plane would crash in hopes to get rid of Kate so that she could take her place at Victor Kiriakis' side. The plane did crash, and Kate was presumed dead for an entire year before the character returned to Salem in a juicy and shocking moment.
Vivian eventually left Salem and returned again in 2009 following the death of her family member, Lawrence Alamain. Of course, she and Kate bumped into each other; it was clear that there was no love lost between the two women even after years apart. However, Vivian's most stunning return to Salem may have been in 2018 when she came to town with her long-lost son, Stefan O. DiMera, per Soaps in Depth.
During this time, Vivian and Kate's feud went from bad to worse when Vivian shot Kate and then buried her in a grave in the DiMera garden. Kate survived the incident but nearly died when Vivian snuck into her hospital room and attempted to kill her. Kate fell into a coma and was saved by Dr. Rolf (via Soap Dirt).
Months later, Vivian faked her death to get out of serving jail time, and she lives on so that she and Kate can continue to torment each other in the future.
